TCU has gone through six practices of spring camp and while several players are making some noticeable plays, one player has caught the attention of coaches, media and fans much quicker than many expected; true freshman nose tackle Damonic Williams.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pounder is easily noticeable simply based on his size. But, it’s his athleticism, strength and quickness that has also caught the attention of onlookers. Williams has battled each practice, becoming a player that puts on a show during the one-vs-one session of practice and improving every practice in team drills.

Williams has recently worked his way all the way up to second-team nose tackle the past couple of practices. That’s not bad for a kid that should be going through the second semester of his senior year at the moment.

I remember that he committed kind of late and then just before sign he reneged. On signing day suddenly he was back. Good job coach Dykes as this defense relies heavily on the nose tackle play.

Yes there has been way too much negativity about this team over the past year. It is a new team and a new start. New potentially exciting talent is a good topic to move forward.
