New Hitting Coach Danny-David Linahan Brings Simple Philosophy to TCU​

Danny-David Linahan wants to keep the message simple.

TCU's new hitting coach has spent years around some of the best hitters on the planet, from multiple professional organizations to a record-setting Texas State offense in 2026. His plan for the Frogs' offense includes things he's learned from each stop, but begins with a lesson from the backyard.

Hired in early June to replace Bill Mosiello, Linahan arrives in Fort Worth with a resume that runs through the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins organizations, and a Texas State program that just set several school records. He's also home. An Argyle native, Linahan did not need long to say yes when Kirk Saarloos came calling.

That approach starts with a philosophy Linahan can boil down to three words: hit strikes hard.

"We use some of the data and analytics to...let guys know what their strengths are, and really just lean into it and try to turn those things into superpowers," Linahan said.

"You're reacting to what the pitcher is trying to do to you, so the more you can flip that in your mind that you're on the attack and you're the aggressor, I think it frees you up physically and mentally too," Linahan said.

That was prob what frustrated me most with how Mos offensive strategy seemed to morph into a more passive style that lets the other team beat themselves. (Which was not what early Mo preached as he was looking to drive up pitch counts)

So this style of coaching is very exciting for me to see exactly how this translates to our offensive stats this year
