Mittie family finds a home in Kansas

Jeff Mittie has a video on his phone that describes the emotions perfectly. As news was beginning to leak on that day in 2014 that Mittie had accepted the job as Kansas State’s new women’s basketball coach, his sister — the wife of former K-State football player Brad Seib — decided it was a good time to tell her children that their uncle, aunt, and cousins would be moving back to the area. As expected, they were thrilled.
It makes sense. Mittie, a native of Blue Springs, Missouri, had been away from home for years. He coached Arkansas State from 1995-1999 and then spent the next 15 years as the coach at TCU. On top of coming back to his family, Mittie’s wife, Shanna, a Junction City native, would be coming back to hers. All things considered, this was a perfect move for the Mittie family, both immediate family and family down the line. Who couldn’t be happy about it?
Well, that’d be Mittie’s youngest daughter, Madison, who had just wrapped up her sophomore year at Aledo High School in Texas.
