Houston's defense too much for Frogs, TCU falls 65-46

Houston's defense was too much for the Horned Frogs on Monday night, as TCU fell to the country's best scoring defense, 65-46.

Noah Reynolds led all scorers with 19 points, Vasean Allette added 11 and Tra White scored nine, but the rest of TCU's squad scored just seven points.

Houston, meanwhile, saw five Cougars score at least nine points while shooting 42.1% from the 3-point line, giving them all the offense they needed as their defense clamped down on the Frogs. Houston's defense produced 11 steals and six blocked shots as they held TCU to just 42.6% shooting from the floor and just four assists.

I’d like to see a comparison of our 1st half vs. 2nd half defense stats. Plunkett said we’re giving up something like 55% from the floor through the first 3 conference games in the second half. That’s atrocious. Especially with our inability to score.

At this point, CJD needs to take his licks and let the young guys get more minutes.

Virtually giving up on this season is certainly a dismal option, but perhaps the best for this team. But then, there's no reason to believe the next version will be any better than the current version, even with an additional year of preparation, since the ones who will pick and prepare the next one will most likely be the ones who picked and prepared the present one. As some guy named Einstein reputedly said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
