247 Sports: Finally coaching with Patterson, Kill ready to help improve TCU

It took longer than expected, but TCU head coach Gary Patterson finally got his best friend to coach alongside him when he recently added Jerry Kill to the Frogs’ coaching staff as special assistant to the head coach.
Truth be told, it took nearly 40 years for the two to be on the same staff together again.
The two friends, who first met in the early 80’s, have spoken about the opportunity many times over the years to work together. From the time they met at Pittsburg State, the two have watched each other’s careers from afar over the years; Patterson making TCU a perennial top 25 team every year and Kill resurrecting programs wherever he goes.
