Would that be the free throws we missed or they made? Maybe both, along with the errors the players made, or JD’s insistence to slow the game down? It's the Free Throws stupid!
There is no sport where home cooking is more prevalent than in college basketball, and it's not even close. I wasn't even watching the game, but I can tell you in almost ANY close game I am watching, down the stretch any borderline call will go the home team's way. If you're a coach you just expect it and try and play around it, not much else you can do.JD hem-hawed around and did a masterful job of deflecting what I think he really wanted to say. For example, he said Kansas did a great job of being aggressive without fouling, when I think he would like to say is something along the lines of his team got totally homered by the officials.
Normally, I will take up for officials. I officiated a lot of basketball and i know how difficult of a job it is. But, there is no excuse for making a call when you are not in position to see the action to make said call correctly. The game will be graded and reviewed by the conference office, and I sure would like to see that grade sheet, as it’s my belief there will be a long list of incorrect calls/no calls.
Of the televised college sports, basketball has to be my least favorite to watch, especially when TCU is playing. Like you, I enjoy the tournament and all that, but for the most part it feels like a lot of anxiety and frustration without much payoff, even when we win. And I think Dixon has done a really good job here compared to the two decades that preceded him! It's just not a sport I enjoy watching on TV.There is no sport where home cooking is more prevalent than in college basketball, and it's not even close. Honestly, it's part of the reason it's hard for me to get too interested in college basketball prior to the tournament. Well, that and the fact that any team with a pulse makes the tournament.
I enjoy the playoffs in all the sports, even hockey when the Stars are playing. I won't watch two minutes of a regular season NBA or NHL game, what's the point? There are 82 of them and since half the teams make the playoffs, none of them really mean anything. "Load management" anyone? Same for a college basketball game with two Top 20 teams, what are they really playing for, seeding in the tournament? Like it really matters whether a team is a 2-seed or 4-seed.Of the televised college sports, basketball has to be my least favorite to watch, especially when TCU is playing. Give me hockey, football, and baseball any day of the week.
Yeah agree. If you only care about the playoff stakes of a game a lengthy regular season isn't something that will interest you. I'll put hockey or baseball on because I enjoy watching the sport, not because of any must-win result of an individual game.I enjoy the playoffs in all the sports, even hockey when the Stars are playing. Television does a great job of making completely meaningless games seem like a big deal, but might as wait to watch until the playoffs (or tournament) because nobody cares what happens until then. College football is going down that same path unfortunately.
Most likely an NIT teamGood news... TCU's got a pretty solid group. This is going to be a fun year.
That would be very disappointing and is a big part of why last night’s game really stings, and now having to play #1 Arizona and #9 BYU next - maybe looking at 1-3 Big 12 start. Each regular season game matters in this season. @Wexahu @NovaScotiaFrogMost likely an NIT team
For sure, especially since it's Kansas and they were ranked. I just mean I don't get much enjoyment from the sport of basketball compared to the others. That would be very disappointing and ia big part of why last night’s game really stings, now having to play #1 Arizona and #9 BYU next - maybe looking at 1-3 Big 12 start. I digested your previous post and found it interesting; agreeing with the anxiety and frustration, having me often wonder why I watch, but that is on me to figure out how to approach these games with a healthier mental approach, ha.For sure, especially since it's Kansas and they were ranked. No question. That always sold-out and full, loud, boisterous environment - has to make officiating harder than it already is. Our fans do a good job, but nothing like that. And we almost always have empty seats. It’s just different. As mentioned before, that’s a major reason Kansas has lost only 19 games at home in 28 years.JD hem-hawed around and did a masterful job of deflecting what I think he really wanted to say. That is an amazing statistic. Has to be the best home court advantage in basketball. Even Duke loses about twice as much at Cameron than that....didn't look up the exact number but 30 losses since '04-05 is what I saw.No question. Amen! As I get older in life, the stress of watching college basketball live on TV is not worth it. Call me weird, but I follow a TCU game against a good opponent online through ESPN Gamecast. At the same time, I record the TCU game that is televised. If we win the game, I go back and watch its entirety. If we lose the game like the one last night, I delete. Watching on Gamecast cuts down on my anger, anxiety, stress, frustration. you name the adjective.Of the televised college sports, basketball has to be my least favorite to watch, especially when TCU is playing. I think we make it to the big tourney. This team would be top 20 if we hadn’t choked with a 16!point lead kat night. Voters saw it - this team is for real. Most likely an NIT team
