Biggest arms in college football: Ranking the top 10 deep ball throwers for the 2025 season

These quarterbacks have canons for arms.

Quarterbacks have to push the ball vertically to excel in the modern era of college football, and ten arms returning for the 2025 season threw the deep ball better than the rest this past fall. A handful of veteran passers, including Drew Allar and Carson Beck, cracked the top 10, while DJ Lagway and LaNorris Sellers headlined a handful of youngsters to make the list.

Two names on this list transferred from the Group of Five to Power Four ranks this offseason. While weaker competition may have bolstered their deep passing stats in 2024, advanced analytics gave assurance they'll be able to produce at a similar, if not better level, next fall.

Pro Football Focus data helped determine the top 10 deep ball throwers for the 2025 college football season. Candidates had to be rostered on Power Four for the 2025 season and must have maintained at least a 45% adjusted completion percentage with at least 25 deep ball attempts (20+ yards) this past fall.

I don’t understand the Drew Allar love. Not saying he’s bad, but the media hype him up like he’s damn near a Heisman contender. He was mid at best in the playoffs.

I have watched at least 6 full Penn state games in the last 3 years and I think Allar is destined for back up status in the NFL. He has a strong strong tendency to lock in on his first receiver. His scrambling out of the pocket resembles Hassleback or Blackledge at best.
Interesting to see Klubnik's name on there. Did we throw more 20+ passes with Duggan and Riley than with Hoover and Briles?
I think Klubnik is a career back up. He may have potential starter ability, but does not have game changing ability with his arm or feet skills.

Lannoris Sellers and DJ Lagway I hope are future Cowboy 1st round picks. They both spin the ball tight tight and make plays. Both Alabama and NC could not handle either one of these phenoms. I would be OK with the old folks at the Dallas HQ jettisoning Prescott and going through down season or 2 in order to get one of these 2.
