2026 TCU Football Schedule

That looks like worst case 8-4, with a definite shot at 10-2
Wow, I think the floor might be quite a bit lower than that. Worst case?

Do you remember 2013? 2016? '18-19? 2021? 2023? I wonder what people thought "worst case" could be in those years.

I'm still having a hard time wondering why people think we're gonna be really good, and materially better than last year.

The first bye is understandable. That second one is too soon. It is going to be a grind down the stretch.
It's not understandable Kansas State played in Ireland in 2025 and beat North Dakota the next Saturday. Iowa State did the same thing and destroyed South Dakota.

Agree - I caught myself thinking we were a 10-2 lock, then realized we’re replacing our QB, interior OL, best WR, and OC.

We could be awesome or we could miss a bowl next year. Nobody has a clue.

Yeah this is where I’m at. I don’t think we got particularly “better” in the portal. Filled voids with washes at best, and a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers. I don’t think we did near enough at CB, LB, and especially OT. We keep hearing about all these amazing young players, but never see them play.

I think 10-2 is not only nothing close to a "lock", but it would be a minor miracle given the roster we are going to have. You just talk about who we have to replace on offense. I look at our defense and yeah, there are some decent players, but who really stands out?

I think 7-5 is probably a good over-under number and while I might be willing to bet the over, I wouldn't put much on it. It does help not playing SMU next year (although I wish we still played them).

I don't know who has called the young players "amazing" but I sure haven't heard that. Embellishing just a bit?

Ehh a bit. But Sonny has said in the past he’s confident with the young o-linemen that are here, but never seen them play even when OL play has been bad. Even if that’s just coach-speak, why didn’t we take an OT in the portal. The FWST laid out that next year, left tackle will be reliant on Hughes who we don’t know when is coming back from a major knee injury, and a RS freshman. That in my eyes is a problem.

We paid to keep all of them and did not pay for starters from the portal so they better be awesome.

Not spending any of that Hoover lineman on the OL is stunning.

It’s not that I think TCU is that great. After BYU & TT, none of our opponents look good.

But there are many things in TCU’s favor:
- 7 Home games & 1 Neutral site, so only 4 real road games.
- I believe Roster retention is a big deal. TCU only had to take 11 position players in the portal.
- TCU’s 11 graded out @ 85.82. 5 of them graded out 86 or higher & only 1 less than 85…..at least 6 or 7 will be major contributors.

Other B12 teams:
UCF needed 29
BU needed 27
WV needed 33
Ks. needed 30
Az. needed 24
KSU needed 26
UU needed 14 and a new HC.
- Only KSU & UU graded at 86.

The 3 non-conference games look like wins. NC still does not look good.
Outside of BYU & TT, all of our conference opponents have major assimilation issues.

One of my best friends was a walk-on at SMU for a couple years. He said they would literally practice and study TCU film ~70-80% of their spring/summer offseason. That’s not a rival, that’s a crazy ex-girlfriend.

All that being said, you won’t find me defending who they replaced them with. Should be scheduling the likes of Miss St, Wake Forest, Boston College, etc. at least.
Hell, even N.Texas would be an upgrade over our poor non-conference opponents this year( excluding Ireland game opponent of course).

Was I supposed to type something here?

Remember, Cignetti took over at Indiana and won big with players considered to be at the bottom of the barrel.
There's no reason a new Coach, who has a reputation and resume for developing great Offensive Line play, can't take what we already have and get them to be the efficient and execution-happy warriors they have the potential to be. And, with a really good O-line, all the skill positions look so much better...

At least Tech makes more sense than Cincinnatti .
I know the history is dusty as most houses after a West Texas dust storm, but 1994's finale was at home against Texas Tech....Frogs won 24-17 in the fourth quarter, denied Tech its SWC championship, and helped create the improbably, fabled 5-way tie for the title...along with Baylor, Rice. and Texas....Don't think this year's game will carry that much importance, but hopefully it will be as dramatic....
