2026 MLB Thread

Oh man, I loved Hawk and Wimpy. Especially when White Sox on the road, giving up a big inning, runners circling bases, crowd roaring, Hawk saying nothing. Eventually after the 3rd out he'd pitch to the break, "Tigers get 5 more runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and 2 errors. 8-nothing after 2. Mercy." :D

Did you know Wimpy was also drafted by the Miami Dolphins and has his baseball number retired at UH? I heard Tommy Lasorda gave him his knickname when the Dodgers went to a steakhouse and Tom ordered a burger.

Only knew that he had a reputation for wanting burgers. Surprising that he was drafted in the NFL because he did not look like a very big guy to me. But I see him listed everywhere as 6'4", 215 lbs. I remember him saying that Dave Stewart "sprinkles guys like me on his breakfast cereal."

I have a rare opportunity to watch a Yankees game, which is on Fox. And just saw Judge homer!! :D
You should be able to watch them on the espn app whenever they are on there with the mlb.tv thing that espn has now. You just have to make sure you're logged in with your spectrum account. I watched the Braves play on there the other night.

Thanks. I'm not too swift when it comes to apps on my TV (yes, I still have cable, and I love it!). I only have ESPN and HBOMax. I just looked around the ESPN app and didn't see a mlb.tv thing.

Watching the Yankees game yesterday was the first MLB game I've seen this year. It's interesting to see the challenges to the homeplate umpire's calls. There were several that resulted in overturning a strike to a ball, and vice versa. I wonder how the umpires feel about this.

An ump with a big ego is going to get 3 calls in a row reversed this year, crash out on national television, and I will be HERE for it.

So go to your espn app, click on the watch button at the bottom of the screen.

Then scroll down until you see MLB.TV. Click on that box and it will show you all the available games. The Yankees are on tomorrow night against Seattle.

I have Spectrum too. It's just easier to me to have cable. I get all the channels I need to watch our games and then some, all in one place.

It's going to be this guy lol. I read somewhere that he was rated as the 5th worst umpire in mlb last season.

I dunno. Maybe we should just do away with HPU's calling balls and strikes altogether since technology can reverse calls that are 1" off. If that tech can immediately indicate ball or strike. Kind of feel bad for the umps. Even though Buckner and some are awful.
