2025 Recruiting Thread

I think you also have to remember the way recruiting took place prior to NIL and the portal of which Gary had some of and Sonny has all of it has a significant impact on a recruiting class. they are literally day-to-day players and that wasn't the case for the bulk of Gary's tenure. I am not saying Sonny is a better recruiter than Gary just saying the rules changed quite significantly and may be harder to draw a true comparison. I am optimistic about this team going into 2025, but then again I have almost always been optimistic to be fair.
The last year Dykes was at SMU I had read he had significant TP players that beotch slapped TCU around. Loved the GP years but IMO the current landscape Tp/NIL ( college free agency) would have had him heading for the exits real quick. There is almost 0 loyalty from players to schools anymore, I hate it.

No idea where you’re getting that. GP left an absolute dumpster fire.
Just look at the team right now. Where are all the juniors and seniors from GP‘s ’19, ‘20, & ‘21 recruiting classes? Mike Nichols was the only lineman.
When Sonny took over, there wasn’t a single lineman in the ‘21 recruiting class.
Sonny quickly signed 6 linemen in 2 weeks.
The ‘22 team that GP left behind would not have won 5 games without the 10 portal starters that Dykes acquired last minute in the Dec. ‘21 portal.
Dykes literally came in, surveyed the damage; then quickly went to the portal and got exactly what he needed. He hit on 10 out of 10 portal starters. Newton, Dotson, Bailey, Mitchell, Fox, Ali, Hodges, Cooks, Perry, Wiley, plus several backups. Nobody does that.

TCU is a conference contender for 2025.
Just take a look at how many returners TCU has. There are no more gaping holes.
We need 2-3 WRs and 2-3 DLs, along with patches at OL, CB/S, LB, & RB.
That’s very doable,
As long we don’t start out of [ Finebaum ]ty. Let’s be honest losing to Houston is one of the worst losses in a decade. Losing to UCF after being up 28-7 was BRUTAL. even with the other 2 losses we are in the championship game.

We need to have much stronger start in 2025 and I imagine our schedule is going to a lot harder next year.

All of what you said about recruits is true. We are well stocked in comparison to 2023 that’s for darn sure. Win a bowl game and 9-4 going into next year is good momentum.

Absolutely unbelievable that TCU was able to hold this entire class together.
This is a GREAT recruiting class!!!
We are finally on top of the curve, now the portal can be used to complement the team and no longer be used as the primary source of talent.
Think this is also a close knit group. One is actually a nephew of another…..

I kind of agree.
The 3-3 team in the 1st half of the season is nowhere near the 5-1 team in the 2nd half of the season. BU is arguably playing the best football in the B12 right now and that was our only close loss.
’25 will not be a year where we are trying to implement a brand new defense.
We have a Safety issue, but Helm and Glover will be back in the secondary, and the D-line, which was already old and beat up when the season started, has already been improved with the 2 Jucos and Woodfork, plus a portal add coming.
The offense should be Excellent with an ever improving Hoover, who is already the #6 passing QB nationally, a substantially improved O-line, and 5 RBs competing. We do need a WR or 2 in the portal.
Our schedule might be a little more difficult next year, but there is nothing scary in this conference. It’s extremely inconsistent with teams going from good to bad and bad to good in a single year. Hell ASU was picked somewhere near last.

It’s hard to say, as I don’t know what other teams needed, or how well they were able to satisfy their needs.
With just raw numbers, TCU had the only top 25 recruiting class in the B12.
If CU is able to hold their class together today, they were the closest at 34th.

This is TCU’s best HS class in the modern recruiting era!

As far as class rankings, I've always looked at the average recruit rating, in which Colorado has a better average, but then again their class size is half of TCUs so it's hard to tell. UCF is the same story right now.

Yes, CU did well. However they are a totally different beast.
CU is losing 16 of 22 1st string depth chart positions. Nearly 75% gone. Including their QB and Travis Hunter at 2 positions. (Heisman winner?)
CU loses both 1st & 2nd string players at 6 positions, that’s real trouble.
They must replace with a huge portal haul immediately.
Every highlighted position on their 2 deep must be immediately replaced. Everything depends on next week for CU.

Look for PRIME to depart CU in the middle of the night shortly.
