2025 CFB Coach Carousel

I wonder what Happy Valley thought of Franklin when he was hired. Franklin came from Vandy IIRC, and had managed to go over 500 his last year or 2 there. Franklin may not have won as many games at Vandy as Campbell has won at ISU-- I don't know.

Maybe PSU can be sold the story that a promising coach from a historically down-trodden program can succeed for them. Don't know about that either.
Campbell's "flavor of the month" time was right around 2018. At that time PSU probably would have been thrilled to get him. He's still the same guy he was then, but if you don't keep exceeding the bar you set for yourself eventually it gets boring and you're no longer the flavor of the month candidate. I think Campbell is a decent coach and can do well at PSU if the boosters spend enough money.

Franklin was 24-15 in 3 years at Vandy with three straight 4th place East division finishes.

Watching Sonny build SMU, watching his teams whip us at The Carter in '19 and '21 -- and who knows might've made it 3 in a row if '20 wasn't cancelled -- plus his DFW/Texas ties and portal success -- I would've been happier with Sonny than Campbell if I knew he was a candidate. Time will tell.

22-17 last 3 years. Nope. Nobody wants Sonny. He's average with his own players. Record doesn't lie.
Records from 2018-2021
Iowa State (31-20)
TCU (23-24)

Results from 2022-2025
Iowa State (30-21)
TCU (35-17)

Nobody wants our coach I guess, but I think we've done ok, relatively speaking. Good thing you didn't take that bet I offered. I knew you wouldn't.

Were we talking about this a year ago, Matt Campbell would have been 22-17 over the previous 3 years. Were we talking about this two years ago, he’d have been 18-20 over his previous 3 years. But why exclude 2022?

And it’s 22-15, not 22-17.

Why? Are you that stupid? I guess you are. That was all Patterson recruits in 2022. Remove those players in 2023 and Sonny has 5 wins.

I just pointed out the fact that Campbell was interested in the TCU job and you take it as an attack on Sonny. There is something really wrong with you. Are you on Sonny's staff?

That he went 5-7 with. Wiley, Newton, Ali, Horton, Williams, Parry, Hodge and Hodges weren’t GP recruits.

No, I’m not on SD’s staff. Are your lips that affixed to GP’s ass?

You attack Sonny all the time, so why would I think your post was not an attack on Sonny?. You sure made it sound like Donati made a mistake by not hiring Campbell if he could have.

I know what he was getting at. He does too.

I’m not even sure it’s true to be honest. There were lots of things floating around at that time.

Oh, really, Great Carnac. Well, can you and your alcoholic retired marine co-host give us next week's lottery tickets while your at it?
