What do you think about Avery Johnson's backup Blake Barnett? I know he got a little playing time this year. Will Klein create a real QB competition? Barnett appeared to be the more athletic one coming out HS.

k-state has options at quarterback. but i can't see any of them beating out avery johnson. barnett is more of a run first guy. they also have a couple other highly regarded quarterbacks in waiting. i'd expect some to go portal once it opens.

That was my first thought, too. Whynon earth would Klieman just retire? He’s not even 60.

also…star QB at Big 12 school turns into OC, has success at A&M and returns to his alma mater as head coach. I’ve seen this movie before. Hope this one ends the same way.

None. And to be honest, they still haven't won anything meaningful. We'll see how Saturday goes.

my guess - that's all it is - is that k-state's a.d. got word from klieman that he was finished after the utah game meltdown. taylor and klieman are like brothers dating back to taylor hiring him at north dakota state. some say taylor himself was hired to get klieman to manhattan. anyway, taylor reached out to klein. and the deal was essentially done at that point, only terms to be negotiated.

I will guess Chris Kleiman has a health issue that has caused him to decide to step out. Maybe this has already been speculated here.

He looked like a broken man after the Utah loss. It devastated him. That press conference was brutal to watch. I don’t know how ksu fans acted this year, but that Ireland game obviously set them back. That - and their awful defense.

Just finished reading an espn article about Kiffin’s departure from Ol’ Miss. One of the fans interviewed was former Ol Miss baseball player Jo Ignatius, who spoke of the disappointment of his 8th-grade son, and I’m not kidding here. . . Bodacious. Only in SEC country.
