Might be time to head over to Dallas for a little early Christmas shopping?1664827822645.png

UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU sophomore wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. and senior safety Chace Cromartie will sit out the rest of the season with intentions to enter the transfer portal, multiple SMU staff members with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Dallas Morning News.

On3 was first to report the news. Two other players, sophomore safety Isaiah Nwokobia and sophomore wide receiver Jayleen Record, were also mentioned in On3′s report, but multiple SMU staff members told The News that Nwokobia and Record haven’t communicated their intention to do the same.
The timing of the news makes sense. College players are able to redshirt a season if they haven’t played in more than four games. The Mustangs will play their fifth game of the season at UCF on Wednesday.
Daniels, a standout recruit from Duncanville, couldn’t redshirt his first season after exceeding game limits. Nwokobia, the second-highest-rated recruit SMU had in 2021 behind quarterback Preston Stone, and Record also played in over four games as freshmen.

daniel has some potential as a slot receiver and always nice to expand the times in duncanville

don't know much about the safety from skyline other than he posted some solid track time

would love to see the safety/lb prospect from duncanville come over as i think he could do some damage in this defense

mid-season for most of the high schools is a good time to catch up with the frogs recruit and a few have some clips out on hudl i will link. 247 has been doing a fairly regular update on the recruits and they do have a bit more access than some of us.

remember that linebacker recruit kylan salter out of cedar hill hasn't played this year due to a knee injury he suffered last spring. word has been salter was rehabbing and focusing on graduating early so that he would be on campus next spring.

also, tight end prospect lafayetee kauiway (6'5" 245) from arlington sam houston has missed a great deal of time early season with an injury and i don't know if he has returned to action or not

offensive line prospects

narado stoker (6'5" 310) and brione ramsey - brooks (6'4" 380) both at dallas south oak cliff. soc is 3-3 for the year and 2-0 in district. they struggled early with losses to duncanville, lancaster, and desoto early on, beat episcopal, and then destroyed their first two district opponents by a combined 97-0. the only contest they will get in district is the season finale vs hillcrest.

bigger question will be has their offensive improved enough for the golden bears to make another deep playoff push and these two will play a big part. both as prospect are really, really raw and need to spend some quality time with kaz.

benjamin whitfield (6'5" 270) duncanville who are 4-0 for the year and 2-0 in dsitrict. the panthers play a solid waxahachie team (4-1) this week and then their big challenge in district will be at desoto on october 28th. duncanville is looking to make another deep play off run. whitfield has a great frame and moves well.

cooper powers (6'5" 280) de la salle, concorde, calif. who are having a bit of a down year at 3-2 going into league play. the spartans are a run heavy team with over 200 rushes and just 55 passes in 5 games. when you see cooper's highlights you will see he is aggressive and physical in the run game. he also moves well for his size which is one of those traits that can't be taught.

defensive line prospects

keviyan huddleson (6'4" 235) tyler chapel hill who are 3-2 overall and 1-0 in district. they are in a tough district, but have a very good chance to make the playoffs. keviyan starts at offensive tackle and defensive line which you will see in the linked clip below

zachary chapman (6'4" 240) ft bend marshall who are 4-1 overall and 2-0 in district. they have dominated their first two district opponents 86-14 and the biggest district challenge will be at dayton on november 4th. zachary plays inside and out on the defensive front and leads his team with 3.5 sacks so far this season.
avion carter (6'5" 260) amarillo tascosa who are 5-1 overall and 2-0 in district. tascosa should win the district and it will be interesting to see how far their option based offense will take them. carter for the season has 6 sacks in the 5 games he has played to date.

jonathan bax (6'2" 230) edna karr, new orleans who are 2-3 overall and i am not sure in league as the 3 losses are from forfeits due to an ineligible player. also couldn't find anything on how bax has played this year, but i did see a couple of things interesting on their upcoming schedule

first, they play john curtis on november 4th which is the alma mater of current frog cory wren, but also the man who coined the phrase "bleed purple or bleed out" and i think he may coach at curtis. the other is a mid week game some 5 days later in which mater dei would be coming to the crescent city. interesting if that last one comes off or not.

defensive back prospects

vernon glover, jr (6' 170) dickinson who are 3-2 overall and 0-1 in district. the gators should make the playoffs this year. glover has played a bit of offense this year (3 catches for 48 yards and 1 td) and has 1 int. on the defensive side.

all three of the frogs safety prospects carry similar traits in rangy build and not afraid to hit. will be interesting to see if gillespie continues to recruit to physical traits for positions in his defense.

jorden lester (6'2" 180) mesquite horn who are 4-2 overall and 1-1 in district. the jaguars should make the playoffs, but still have a few challenges in this tough district that has produced some great offensive players. lester for the year is 4th in solos and has 1 int.

montana warren (6'2" 180) henderson who are having a tough year so far at 0-5 and 0-1 in district. will be interesting to see if the lions can turn it around and make the playoffs. they have the athletes and warren is a two way player and special team contributor for them.

javeon wilcox (6'1' 190) lake belton who are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in district. they made a deep play off run last year and should again this year. wilcox has played a bit on offense (5 catches for 87 yards and 4 tds), but it is on defense where he has signed leading the team in solos and has 1 interception.
athletes

max carroll (6'3" 205) briarcrest christian, memphis who are 3-4 overall an 0-3 in league. max is thought to be a prospect as either a flex on offense or an edge player for the frogs on defense. offensively this year he has 22 catches for 295 yards and 7 tds and defensively he is among the teams leading tacklers and has 2 interceptions

rohan fluellen (6' 170) gilmer who are 4-0 overall and open district play against pleasant grove. fluellen leads the buckeyes with 18 catches for 258 yards and 1 td and has 2 interceptions.

running back

cameron cook ( 5'10" 180) round rock stony point who are 3-2 overall and 0-2 in district, but their two losses are to the two district favorites. offensively cook has rushed 66 times for 630 yards (9.5 ypc) and 8 tds, caught 5 passes for 120 yards and 2 more scores, plus 295 in return yardage. he is over 1,000 yards in total yardage and is a versatile threat that could be used in a number of ways in the dykes/riley offense

wide receiver prospects

jordyn bailey (5'9" 160) denton ryan who are 4-1 overall and 4-0 in district play. ryan plays 5-0 burleson centennial this week and has aledo coming up so those should be two good tests for them. bailey is similar to cook in that he is an explosive player who can be used in a number of ways by the frogs. jordyn for the season has 20 carries for 152 yards and a score, caught 10 balls for 166 yards and 3 scores plus over 200 yards on returns.

cordale russell (6'3" 215) north mesquite who are 2-3 overall and 1-1 in district. the stallions have an uphill fight in this district to make the playoffs, but if they do than cordale is going to play a big part in that success. he has continued to show he has great potential as an outside receiver, but consider that the north mesquite staff has asked him to play defensive line as well as receiver. how has it worked out? russell leads the stallions in sacks for the year. offensively he has 25 catches for 571 yards and 7 tds to go with those 3.5 sacks..

That’s really good stuff. I can’t wait to see what some of these guys look like after 6 mos. on the Kaz program.
Cook with 15 lbs of muscle could be freakishly good. Carter & Russell too.
