as the weekend approaches a number of frog commits prepare with their teams for regular season championships and future play off games

cade mcconnell's (ot) choctaw squad took a drubbing last week from nationally ranked bixby, but rebounded tonight to beat muskogee football 49-32. the win pushes choctaw's season record to 5-2 and 3-1 in conference play

seth martion (ol) and everman 3-3 (2-1) travel to cleburne 3-3 (1-2). everman looks to be in good position to make the playoffs as they have already played aledo, are in a 3-way tie for second with mansfield timberview and burleson, and have a favorable closing schedule.

dj allen (ath) and gladewater 4-2 (3-0) have won 3 straight after a rough start of the season with big losses to gilmer and kilgore. they face jefferson 4-2 (1-1) . if gladewater can get through the next two weeks against jefferson and white oak it sets up a big district showdown with sabine in the final regular season game.

matthew golden (wr) and klein cain have recovered nicely since a brutal opening loss on nationally television to bridgeland. since that game cain has outscored opponents 3 to 1 and golden is the top receiver in the state. this week cain 5-1 (3-0) plays klein collins 2-4 (2-0) who struggled early, but is the only other undefeated team in the district. cain should win and put themselves in a position to win the district going away.

major everhart (rb/ath) and amarillo tascossa 5-1 (2-0) play caprock 2-4 (1-1) and caprock's struggles to score this year shouldn't bode well with the explosive tascossa team. with the other undefeated team in the district (coronado) playing amarillo tomorrow a win could put tascasso in the driver's seat for the district title.

ajay allen (rb/ath) and neville 5-1 (1-0) play at minden 2-4 (0-1) and things are headed to a very interesting finishing game against huntington

treven macalpine (dt) and saraland 6-2 (5-0) are at robertsdale 3-5 (1-4) . win this game and saraland gets to try to win the regular season title at home next week and based upon the way their defense has played this year there is a good chance that happens.

ja'dais richard (s) and west monroe 4-2 (2-0) play at west ouachita 2-5 (0-2) monroe has owned this district for some time, but they still have some work to do this year.

jaylon guilbeau (cb) and port arthur memorial 5-1 (3-0) play beaumont united 1-5 (1-2) . pa memorial has only given up 7 points in district play so far and when you consider that united's biggest point total this year is 19 in a loss to montgomery things look good for pa. they just don't want to get caught looking ahead to next week's match up with district co-leader baytown lee.

finally, joseph adedire (de) and mansfield summit 4-2 (3-0) play in the big game of the week for frog commits as they travel to colleyville heritage 5-1 (3-0) who is the district co-leader. summit traveled earlier in the year to austin to face westlake and one reason you play those types of games before district play is to prepare for this game tomorrow. defense has lead the way for summit so far this year.

one future frog and his teammates were upset, another lost a heart breaker, and others rolled this past weekend.

as mentioned before cade mcconnell (ot) and choctaw 5-2 (3-1) rebounded by beating muskogee 49-32

ajay allen (rb/ath) and neville 6-1 (2-0) continued their winning ways as they beat minden 30-0. allen had a light workload for the night with only 10 carries, but gained 128 yards and scored his only td of the night on his 1st carry (51 yards)

dj allen (ath) and gladewater 5-2 (4-0) rolled over jefferson 44-13 as allen carried 10 times for 94 yards and a td, threw for 45 yards, and added 81 yards in punt returns (long of 64)

dj for the season has rushed 61 times for 584 yards and 7 tds, thrown for 446, caught balls for 158, and the 81 in punt return yards

matthew golden (wr) and klein cain 5-2 (3-1) were upset by klein collins 21-36. cain struggled going 0 for 8 on 3rd downs, couldn't protect their quarterback, and collins rolled coverage over the top of golden limiting him to 7 catches for 83 yards

golden for the season has 54 catches for 976 yards and 9 td's

major everhart (rb/ath) and amarillo tascosa 7-1 (4-0) started a bit slow but rolled over caprock 46-14. major for the night had 7 carries for 97 yards and 2 td's

everhart for the season has carried 38 times for 675 yards and 9 td's and caught 9 passes for 248 yards and another 2 scores. he is average over 13 yards each time he touches the ball and a score for just over every 4 touches

seth martin and everman 4-3 (3-1) won big over cleburne 44-0. everman ran the ball 47 times for 458 yards in the game

jaylon guilbeau (cb) and port arthur memorial 6-1 (4-0) continued their dominance in district play beating beaumont united 34-9. memorial dominated the beaumont team and didn't give up a td until just over 3 minutes to go in the game

ja'dais richard (s) and west monroe 4-2 (2-0) continued their string of stingy defense shutting out west ouachita 25-0.

trevon mcalpine (dt) and saraland 7-2 (6-0) continued their dominance in conference playing beating robertsdale 49-6

finally, joseph adedire (de) and mansfield summit 4-3 (3-1) lost a heartbreaker at colleyville heritage 34-35. heritage avenged last year's playoff loss to summit in what has to be a disappointing loss for summit. 3 summit turnovers and a heritage punt return for a td put them behind but they rallied from 14 down only to get stopped on a 2-pt conversion attempt with less than 2 minutes to go in the game

the human highlight film who doubles as a frog recruit, aj allen, is missing this week as neville had a bye, one recruit's team finished their regular season with a championship win, a few others set themselves up for big district games, and unfortunately a couple of strings got broken

dj allen (ath) was productive running and throwing the football for gladewater 6-2 (5-0) as they rolled white oak 48-14. the win sets up a big regular season final for the bears as they host district co-leader sabine

major everhart (rb/ath) and amarillo tascosa made history with their big win over lubbock monterey 60-18. the win locked a play off spot for tascaso for the fourth year in a row which is the longest such string in school history.

major in the game had 6 carries for 68 yards (td's of 20 and 31 yards) and caught 2 passes for 57 yards and 2 td's (34 and 23) .

tascosa finishes their regular season next week at lubbock coronado and a win gives them the district title.

matthew golden(wr) was kept out of the end zone for a second week (6 catches for 75 yards) but klein cain 7-2 (4-1) rebounded from their loss last week by beating klein oak 31-3. cain will finish their regular season next week with a game against tomball

cade mcconnell (ot) and choctaw 6-2 (4-1) won a hard fought game on the road beating sand springs page 41-28.. choctaw is currently tied with tulsa booker t for second behind nationally ranked bixby and finishes the season with games against putnam city and at bartlesville

seth martin (ol) and everman 4-4 (3-2) had a really rough night getting beat by burleson 64-28. everman still is in position to make the playoffs as they finish the season hosting waco university and at joshua

jaylon guilbeau (cb) and port arthur memorial 7-1 (5-0) kept up their winning ways beating baytown robert e. lee (interesting they haven't changed the name) 51-20. memorial has locked up the playoffs and is in position to win the district with a victory next week over baytown sterling. they finish the regular season at friendswood.

ja'dais richard (s) and west monroe 4-3 (2-1) have experienced some bad history this year. first it was neville snapping a very long losing streak to west monroe. last night ouachita parrish snapped a 27-game losing streak to west monroe 35-34. w. monroe had a chance to win the game in ot but their pat attempt was blocked. ouachita won in the 2ot when they converted their 2-pt attempt which not only broke their losing streak but snapped west monroe's 100-game win streak in district play.

west monroe hosts pineville next week before finishing with a big game on the road at ruston
joseph adedaire (de) and mansfield summit 5-3 (4-1) won a thriller last year in the regional finals over red oak, but last night summit dominated red oak 35-2. their defense lead the way holding red oak to just over 200 yards of total offense and forced 4 turnovers.

this sets up a big game next week against midlothian for second place in the district.

finally and far, far from the least trevon mcalpine (dt) and saraland 8-2 (7-0) finished their regular season and won their conference with a 49-0 domination of citronelle. saraland begins post-season play next week hosting metumpka.

a few frog commits had the night off last night (i.e. major everhart rb/ath - amarillo tascosa and trevon mcalpine dt -saralanda, al) and matthew golden and klein cain play this afternoon, but there was plenty of action last night and some big wins as a couple of district titles were looked down

dj allen wr/ath of gladewater 7-1 (6-0) has gotten overshadowed this year a bit with the production of ajay allen of neville, matthew golden of cain, and everhart of tascosa, but don't think the lack of numbers this year is reflective on his potential as a wr prospect for the frogs

allen as a junior had 57 catches for over 1,300 yards and 17 td's including a 10 catch, 283 yard, 5 td night against tatum who normally has their fair share of athletes

allen started at wide receiver this year, but moved to quarterback where he was needed so the numbers are off a bit, but he is still the same explosive, twitchy prospect who has clocked a 100m in the 10.7's

last night gladewater hosted sabine for the district title and dominated winning 35-6 and defending the district title for gladewater. the bears are now 26-0 all-time against sabine.

dj for the night had 11 carries for 92 yards and threw for 128 and a score.

this gladewater team might not be putting up the same number points as last year, but they are good and have overcome two bad early season losses to larger schools gilmer (whose only lose is by 21 to a school some might have heard of carthage) and kilgore. will be very interested in watching them in the upcoming playoffs

joseph adedire dl and mansfield summit 6-3 (5-1) also had a very big game last night as they faced off against midlothian with both teams as of last night being tied for second place in their district behind colleyville heritage. on paper prior to the game midlothian had the best defense in the district, but it was summit who dominated, especially in the second half.

the jaguars forces 3 to's, blocked two punts, and held midlothian to 7 points in the second half as they pulled away for a 42-21 win. the win locked up an at home first-round bi-district game with only a game at birdville left on their regular season schedule

the human highlight film that has been ajay allen rb/ath and neville 7-1 (3-0) rolled over long time rival bastrop 62-0. the game was over early as it was 50-0 at half.

allen had a light, but productive night as he once again scored on his first touch of the game and finished with only 6 carries for 111 yards and 3 td's (48, 27, and 5)

the win sets up a big game next thursday night as neville travels to shreveport to play huntington 8-1 (4-0) for the district title

ja'dais richard s and west monroe rebounded 5-3 (3-1) with a win over pineville 30-12. the rebels limited pineville to 129 total yards of offense in the game.

2021 has not been kind to long time streaks for west monroe as their streak over neville got broken earlier in the year and their long win streak over ouachita parrish and their 100-game district win streak was ended last week which brings us to next week which apparently is a game in this part of the world has been looking forward to quite some time

west monroe travels to ruston 8-1 (4-0) with not only their win streak over ruston on the line (since 1990), but a 26 year district champions streak as well. if west monroe wins both streaks survive as they at least tie ruston for the title and possibly end up in a 3-way tie with ruston and ouachita parrish. a loss means two more streaks end for west monroe in 2021

jaylon guilbeau cb and port arthur memorial 8-1 (6-0) kept rolling as they jumped up big on baytown sterling 28-0 at the end of the first and they coasted to a 48-13 win and secured at least a share of the district title. the titans travel to friendswood next week to finish the regular season with a showdown against the second place mustangs.

this was a big week for guilbeau as he was named to the roster for the prestigious all-american bowl

cade mcconnell ot and choctaw 7-2 (5-1) dominated putnam city west 60-27 and the yellow jackets are tied with tulsa booker t washington for second place in the district with one remaining game in the regular season

choctaw did beat booker t during the season and finishes with a more favorable game at 2-7 bartlesville while booker t hosts district leader and nationally ranked bixby.

seth martin ol and everman 5-4 (4-2) dominated winless waco university 51-7, sorry lt. not sure if martin played this week after it was mentioned he went out of last week's burleson game with a lower leg injury. remember that you get what you pay for around here even though none of us deserve what we get from steelfrog.

everman finishes their regular season at joshua and the bulldogs are in position to make the playoffs
