Play of the game: TCU commit Trevon McAlpine was spectacular from his interior defensive line position. With 2:05 left in the first quarter, Spanish Fort faced a fourth-and-1 from its 40. Quarterback Brendon Byrd lined up under center with Morris directly behind him. Byrd pitched the ball to Morris around right end. McAlpine, who was lined up in front of the offensive left guard, split two defenders and made the tackle on the speedy back near the right sideline for no gain.
“He is disruptive,” Kelly said of McAlpine.
the spartans raised their record overall to 5-2 and are 4-0 in region play
