One guy threw 2 thirds of an inning and gave up 8 earned runs

So Winnipeg beats Edmonton 24-10 which makes the Jays the highest scoring Canadian team of the night. I’m sure there was probably a prop bet on that before the night started that would have paid off nicely

@nwlafrog - This added to the excitement at Shea that night. Pic I snapped of Jose Reyes singling to complete the cycle. Look half way between Reyes and the pitcher. Reyes lined the ball through the pitcher’s legs in the air! Reds 6, Mets 5. Griffey doubled and had a sac fly for 3 RBI’s. Wagner blew the save as Brandon Phillips hit a 2-RBI single in the 9th. June 21, 2006.

Crazy stat—
Byron Buxton is at 50 dingers and 151 games since he last hit in to a double play on August 18, 2020. His speed and “barreling up” make this happen. This while playing part time on chronic patellar tendinitis; now trying plasma platelet treatments. Like his career, he is only available about half the time.

50 homers is a record since they started tracking double plays in 1940. Matt Carpenter held it previously at 43 between double plays.

Just another wonderful move by the genius that is Chaim Bloom. You can take the boy out of Tampa but you can't take the Tampa out of the boy.

Wrong guy Wrong team

A fun summary with video of the first inning shenanigans in the Astros’ game yesterday. A blatant hard high plunking of Altuve on the first pitch, followed by a high inside pitch to the second batter, Gurriel. This in retaliation for the previous day when Mariners‘ rookie Julio Rodriquez was accidentally hit on the wrist while swinging.

All fun, because Altuve got back up and the Astros then made them pay with a beautiful double steal in that first inning. Gurriel to second and Altuve stealing home for the run. The 2nd time Altuve has stolen home recently, he has wheels.
