2022 Fiesta Bowl Complaints Thread

Biggest complaint is that their food tastes like ass, but it’s hard to expect much from stadium food. It was a great experience overall.
You were warned in a previous thread when I recommended skipping the stadium food and hitting Westgate or Park West, before/after.

How did he do? We couldn’t hear what he was saying in the box but he looked animated.
Very animated. Had fun things to say about both teams and what was coming up next. Positive, upbeat, energetic, and amusing. He does the same thing at the D'backs games. Side note: he is a professor at ASU but I can't remember his name.

Poor acoustics at the stadium. Hard to hear announcements or when the ref would talk. Maybe because I was sitting in the upper deck. Must have been reported before because I finally noticed what amounted to closed captioning panels on the corners of the stadium that helped.

After the game, trying to get an Uber or any rideshare was awful.
Then the prices were jacked up because it was New Years Eve.

Luckily our Uber driver told us to walk to the casino after the game and get an Uber from there. It was way easier.

On a side note, since we won, I thought our luck was up so I went into the casino and put $100 on black... My luck was not up...

My notes and thoughts:

I didn’t feel like the parking process was PAINFULLY long. We entered from the east side at 91st and Cardinal. The problem I had was there was ZERO direction. When you go to Cowboys Stadium, lots are labeled well and there is plenty of signage. AT&T is pristine compared to State Farm. Lines formed with no indication of where you were supposed to be. After 20-30 min of being in line, we finally got to the front. We had paid for East Preferred and managed to be in line for the East Lot. The guy said “I’m not going to make you leave and get in another line. Just park in here.” So we did, even though it wasn’t exactly what we paid for. That didn’t matter to me, though. We got into the lot around 11:30 after getting off of the freeway around 11:00.

We did some tailgating. There were very few porta-potties in the parking lots. I can’t complain too much about this. Amon G Carter doesn’t have enough, either. But the thing that baffled me the most was that I never saw one trash can. Not one.

Finally, we left the truck around 1:00 to get inside. This was another issue. They only had like two entrances for about tens of thousands of people. It looked like Los Angeles traffic out there. The saving grace of dealing with the line was being next to former Frog Mat Boesen. Mat was amped up and he and my five year old son were leading the masses in “T-C-U!” Chants together. This really all only took like 15-20 minutes though. So still not too bad.

The restrooms inside were pretty clean and the lines went quickly. No complaints there.

The seats were actually pretty comfortable. I went to a Saints game in October in New Orleans and that was a poop experience as far as comfort went. So this was great, comparatively.

Concessions sucked. The workers all seemed brand new and took forever. I attempted halftime snacks for Little DF but the line didn’t move an inch in 7 minutes. He asked to go back to the seats.

The game was great, obviously. And we never encountered one bad Michigan fan. Huge props to them for a classy fan base.

Extra prayer being said for the 80-something year old Michigan fan who fainted and hit his head on the cement at the tailgate next to us. He ended up seeming aware and fine. Had a nice bloody gash on his head and they stretchered him to a medical area. But I think he ended up okay. Just was a scary sight.

I had trouble keeping my emotions in check the whole game. As an alum, former player, etc. this was all unreal to me. I am so glad I got to witness this in person.

Wish I could make it out for the game next Monday. Unfortunately, we are not financially able to do both. This had to be one or the other for our family and this is the one that made more sense. Little DF starts school Thursday, wife needs to be back at work, and I have a work conference in Charlotte next week. I will absolutely be yelling loudly enough from Charlotte for the Frog Nation to hear.

Go Frogs!!!

Traffic was not managed well at all. Way too few gates for a stadium that size. Running out of water is unforgivable. It doesn’t spoil. As someone said above, it must have been run by the same people that run the SMU stadium. Makes me appreciate our stadium and the Cowboys.

4th quarter, about 6 minute mark. Michigan was driving and eventually scored. But, a 15-20 yard very low pass was ruled a diving catch. A quick replay showed the ball probably hit the turf. Michigan rushed to the line and ran another play. Not a word from ESPN. Review should have stopped play.
They were pretty quick to stop a running clock late in the first half which shouldn’t have been reviewed anyway and cost us three points.

So glad we have replay so we can get the calls correct.

It did hit the turf and should have been reviewed, but TCU won and I'm fine with that call standing now.

Not enough M fans stuck around after the game to really rub in my, "Go Frogs" yell.

From my recliner view, they did empty their side of the stands rather quickly ....
Anyone else think the crowd noise overwhelmed the play by play? May be my tv and don’t know how to change it…

I think the crowd noise was just a once-in-a-lifetime example of nearly half a stadium full of TCU fans setting up ENT appointments for Wednesday or Thursday once they get back home :)

You must have entered through a different gate from us, because we arrived at 12:35pm and didn’t get to our seats until 1:45pm.

Go Frogs!
Yes, gate 3 and getting into the East lot was just ridiculous. After hanging in the parking lot for about an hour drinking/sharing beer and chatting with people we headed into the stadium around 1. We got to our seats about 1:50. Getting out was just as bad, even though we waited until after the entire presentation ceremony was over. We ended up just sitting in the car texting and talking to people for about 45 minutes and it was still slow. We got back to Scottsdale a little after 8PM.
