Looks like this will pass. 1st time transfers will have immediate eligibility....its a free agency

Simply means the rich will get richer as schools like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State etc. pluck star players from Lower P5 and G5 schools. Stopping this was the reason the one year wait for eligibility was adopted in the first place

As if recruiting wasn't tough enough. Now you will have schools that will have to potentially fill 10-15 spots every year between Jan 1 and the start of the season. Thats crazy. You better be a "destination" school or you could potentially be playing with little to no depth.

What scholarship adjustments are they making if any? I could see this kind of rule as being the instigator of conference realignment.

would have to think there would be some removal on the cumulative caps.

on one hand is this any different than other scholarship sports?

do kids have to sit out for baseball, track, tennis, volleyball etc...?

on the other hand why not let the current rule have a bit of time to see if the carrot of immediate eligibility via the grad transfer route encourages players to get their degrees

I think everyone is going to be playing with no depth and then using the portal to fill the holes that are created when your last year starters leave for whatever reason (graduate, draft, transfer) - which is where the craziness will occur.

The current rule showed that it was just as common for a blue blood to lose their #2 or #3 on the depth chart that was a 4-5 star and thinks they should be playing already as a Freshman even though the guys in front of them are Jr/Srs and were also 4-5 star.

But now those blue bloods can immediately fill the spot for a departing upperclassman starter with a experienced and proven player from a less high profile school - which could be a nightmare for smaller schools. Imagine thinking you have your QB that kicked butt his Sophomore year for two more years until a higher profile school comes and takes him since he can start immediately now.

I wonder if the volume of coaching lies that get told kids about being the next big starter will go down if the coach knows that kids is going to walk if he doesn't really get that chance year 1 - and you can't give it to him because you already have 2 others you told that same lie last year.

Oklahoma WR staff is after

Jaden Bray 6-3/190 WR Norman OK offers include Kan, KanSt and OKSt raw skills as he transitioned to football for first time last season after focusing solely on basketball previously. Says he learned the position primarily from watching videos but has an impressive video himself.
