I say just go ahead and do it now. I have enough faith in Jung's upside that Rendon is a luxury. The 2022 FA class is pretty deep and if that's the year the Rangers are targeting to be able to make a serious run there are some good pieces to round out a strong roster.

By comparison...Rendon at age 29 year 136 career homeruns. Beltre by age 29, 243 homeruns (been drinking so may be off a few). Beltre obviously had more years of service but using AB as a measuring stick, that length of contract and money makes no sense for Texas.

I could be wrong but I think the price for Bumgarner and Porcello just went up more than the price for Rendon. Both LA teams need pitching.

Maybe the price for Rendon had already been set.

It’s an overpay, they’re buying high with Rendon.

With that said, they’re wasting Mike Trout and Arte Moreno has big development ambitions...so they kind have to spend right now.

And looking at additions for next year: Rendon, Ohtani (as a pitcher), and elite prospect Jo Adell.

Presumably they’ll add another 1-2 pitchers in FA/trades...Keuchel, Ryu, Bumgarner, Porcello, Kluber, Price, Gray...whoever it ends up being.

That would have the look of a team that can compete for AL West Division.

As an Astro fan, I will worry about the Angels after they finalize their pitching staff. They need at least two starters, a closer and two set up men just to be competitive. That is a lot to do in one offseason.

That stadium and land deal is absolutely stupid. Heads will roll in Amaheim. I get cutting them a deal but the City just gave it away.
