13. Stole TCU's claim to Amon Carter.
Amon Carter promoted Texas Tech for a time and served as chairman of its first Board of Regents in 1923 because he felt that West Texas needed a college of its own. But he never made any secret of the fact that his first loyalty was to TCU and he served on the TCU Board of Trustees far longer than he served Texas Tech.

Carter's adoption of TCU began in 1911, the year after TCU relocated from Waco back to its institutional roots in Fort Worth. Texas Tech wasn't even a glimmer in the Legislature's eye at the time. He directed the Star-Telegram to begin covering TCU as a "premier university" and "Fort Worth's university." In September 1911, the S-T ran a sizable front-page article applauding the mutual benefit TCU and Fort Worth would provide for each other.

That was the beginning Amon Carter's nearly 45-year relationship with TCU. Since his death in 1953, that relationship has been carried on by the Amon Carter Foundation and his descendants. His grandson currently chairs both the Amon Carter Foundation board and the TCU board. It's a relationship that now spans 107 years.

I'm sure Texas Tech would have liked to steal TCU's claim to Amon Carter. They never succeeded.

Cotton seems like an odd thing to hate.

Patterson is 1-1 against Leach and that second 1 was a 70-35 beat down, so wouldn’t say Patterson owns him.

So much for that.
