DMN: SMU and TCU's annual clash will serve as key non-conference litmus test

Ok. Your first post said "it has been a solid non conference schedule", implying that you're talking about so far. And my point is that, so far, it has been very, very soft by any respectable sources list (Jerry Palm, KenPom, Sagarin, Teamrankings). Anywhere from 150 to 300+ SOS rank so far...

What SOS rankings list have you found that has us anywhere close to the top 100 non-conference SOS ?

DMN: SMU and TCU's annual clash will serve as key non-conference litmus test

Depending on what source you look at (kenpom, CBS Sports, TeamRankings.com, Sagarin), we are, at best 150, at worst 300+ non-conference SOS. There is a reason this SMU line is so close, and it's not because of Moody Madness. It's because we haven't proven anything at all yet, and it's a rivalry...

    SMU's Last Vestige Of Revenge

And TCU is a 69% spread consensus pick on their Pick Center. This data comes from sportsbooks and is an indicator of betting patterns. I'll go with that. All depends on what metrics are used.

    WVU Shafted

I wonder what would have happened if Ohio State had already played Wisconsin before they beat them 59-0 in 2014? Probably the same outcome, but that last win would have been looked at differently had they already beaten Wisconsin.

Daily Oklahoman: Gary Patterson is wrong about the Ohio State series

That comment is insinuating that if you really are a top 10 team, you should welcome any and all competition from any and all teams at any time, without any regard to the business side of college football. It's not just about "acting like" you are a top 10 team by not backing down to a...

ESPN: When Ohio State kept TCU out of the playoffs

You're making the mistake of assuming that any writer these days actually believes what they are writing. They are just pimping the game and trying to monetize all available angles before it happens, nothing more, nothing less. If they can write something stupid and/or controversial without...

    ESPN article on TCU-OSU...

I think the talent gap in college football in general is smaller than ever, but I think the talent gap in this game, at least on paper, is pretty large. However, we can make up quite a bit of that with great coaching and an us against the world mentality

I mean, they have as many four and five star recruits this year as we've had since what, 2013? They should beat us by 50.

Diehards: Deante Gray calls debate over paying players ‘laughable’ after NCAA earnings report

I think that basically all of this thread is lost to the main point, and that is what I referenced in a post at the beginning. That is to say that the vast majority of the NCAA's revenue comes from college BASKETBALL (look it up), and that FOOTBALL media deals are signed through CONFERENCES...

Diehards: Deante Gray calls debate over paying players ‘laughable’ after NCAA earnings report

What is amusing about his opinion is the fact that the NCAA makes the vast majority of their money from college BASKETBALL (March Madness especially). Like 80% of their annual revenue. In 2018, the NCAA will receive $857 million for March Madness broadcast rights. College football rights are...
