Ke’yona Gabriel had hats from six major college track and field programs on the table before her signing ceremony in the Lockport Recreation Center on Thursday.

The Central Lafourche state champion in the long jump and triple jump was deciding between Mississippi State, Auburn, UNLV, Kansas, TCU and Texas A&M.

When it was time to make a pick, Gabriel chose TCU, a Dallas-based school in the Big 12.

Someone complained. The article has been corrected to "Fort Worth-based school."

Funny thing is, Fort Worth is roughly the same distance from Dallas as Baltimore is from Washington DC -- year nobody ever refers to Baltimore as "Washington." I've noticed the people who most often make the Fort Worth = Dallas mistake are Eastern nimrods who have no idea of any geography west of the Mississippi.

Or nimrods from Louisiana or Arkansas, where they may not even teach geography.

I’m sure that if Fort Worth had their own professional sports franchises, separate from Dallas, people wouldn’t make the mistake.

Minneapolis St. Paul would be a better comparison.
