As far as Oklahoma goes, they will eventually rite their ship, but welcome to the new reality of college football where the NIL and free agency of both coaches and players makes almost every big time school subject to the ciaos that has effected the lesser programs. It is the matrix and it is broke.

It’s almost dumb to put many resources in to recruiting high school kids. Just hammer the transfer portal every year and stock your roster that way, at least those kids can’t leave you at the drop of a hat. Until a kid transfers they’re just on a 1-year deal anyway, almost impossible to build a program around those type of players.

This whole thing is becoming a joke, as expected.

I’m not worried about what Zach Evans is doing. I’m talking about what TCU should be doing.
He’s out. TCU would obviously like him to stay so they’re giving the impression they tried to keep him but everyone in the situation is aware there’s no point in wasting much effort.

College athletics are the only professional sports I am aware of where all the players are on one year deals. Can you imagine the chaos in the NFL, NBA etc. if everyone became a free agent after each season.

taking visits is where i think the line is crossed. similar to your spouse going on dates, nope.....
Don’t know why a hard line can’t be drawn for kids that put their name in. They are basically saying they are open to going somewhere else, right? What is a “visit” anyway?

Would anyone be ok with their spouse saying they were going to put some feelers out and see what kind of response they get? And then they’ll get back with you later depending on their options?

I think there are apps for that very purpose

Unfortunately, spouse is the old analogy. In the NIL world, its like you just found out your favorite 'escort' wasn't necessarily as exclusive to you as you thought, even after you threw high six figure $$$ for 12-15 days of pleasure a year. (and only got half of them at best).

You gonna keep paying?

I think that the new staff will handle things appropriately. I’m looking forward to how the rest of the recruiting season/s play out.

I understand no one wants college sports to become like pro sports. I don't either. But if we're looking at this as "free agency" then there are many times where players in pro sports become free agents, explore their options, visit other teams, and then ultimately elect to stay with their current team. So I guess I'm missing how all of this by Zach is so unforgivable.

All of that said, I think the chances of him returning are basically zero. But the coaches and players on the team know a hell of a lot more about Zach than any of us. So if they want him back and he wants to come back then I have a really hard time understanding why we as fans feel like some kind of a line needs to be drawn.

But maybe that talk has already happened, everyone has said their goodbyes and here we are. I don't know. I'm just not going to have some fake outrage at the fact that he may be on the Ole Miss campus today. And I'm certainly not going to act like Zach is my wife and needs to follow all the same "rules" of marriage that my wife does. I'm not interested in having 85 wives plus 25 or so prospective soon to be wives.
