I just don’t understand why Patterson has had his head in the sand for so many years?!
There are always a lot of up and coming terrific assistant coaches around - that as a ”CEO” you should always be looking to upgrade and improve your company. Talent wise with players and coaches. He has NEVER looked to improve his staff! Ever.

He‘s getting the criticism he deserve. Its his own fault.

He’s been loyal to a fault, and I admire that but when it’s at the expense of your program and student’s development it has to be addressed or you need to step aside.

Yeah he was making like $800k base. Of course they made him a new deal. Almost certainly one TCU, Tech or someone else can buy him out of.

10 years averaging $2.8 M. Makes his salary extremely beatable. Buyout likely high but workable. Kicker is the job security of a 10 year deal, but it depends how much is actually guaranteed and you can easily beat that by giving him more sooner - $5 per for 5 or $4 per for 6. Reasonable in the current market.

UTSA knows he’s gone and is just getting then a down payment for their next coach. They earned it by taking a chance on Traylor.

Watched Jeff Traylor media Monday round table discussion from this morning, was being asked about extension and other coaching opportunities, I didn’t hear him totally deny other opportunities.

Combined record of UTSA opponents this season is 22-43.

Through 8 games, they’ve played nobody with a winning record.

This week will be their first test @ UTEP

4 Million base with a 500K bonus for every win over 7 victories ... or something like that, unless someone has a better formula than that
