Looks like I was a day off on the starting time, but the golf is finally underway. Sanna birdies her last three holes to post a first-round 70 (-1), good for T15 with a handful of players still on the course.

Update (also in Olympics thread):
Sanna Nuutinen has gone -6 over her past 7 holes in the middle of Round 2 and is now tied for 6th. Still more than half the tournament to go, but she is currently two shots back of medal position.

Impressive that she has managed to get to -7 while her playing partners are +6 and +8. Can be hard to keep focus when your group is hitting it all over the yard

Hayden Springer parlayed his Monday qualifier a few weeks ago into a top-10 that earned him another start on the Korn Ferry Tour. The Utah Championship begins today and Hayden is -1 through 1. Follow progress here: https://www.pgatour.com/korn-ferry-...ship-presented-by-zions-bank/leaderboard.html

Paul Barjon and J.J. Henry get a PGA Tour start at the opposite-field Barracuda Championship near Tahoe. This is the modified Stableford event that encourages risk-taking. Scores: https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2021/barracuda-championship/leaderboard.html

Sanna Nuutinen finishes T20 in Olympic women's golf, finishing birdie-birdie to break par in each of four rounds.

She and fellow Finn Matilda Castren posted -13 as a team, which would have been good for 7th in team score (if there were such a thing in Olympic golf) behind the U.S. (-26), Japan (-26), Denmark (-23), China (-21), South Korea (-20) and Australia (-17). Not bad for a country with just 140,000 people who play golf.

Among the men, Paul Barjon made a pair of eagles Friday to sit T10 at the Barracuda despite a bunch of bogeys on his card. Making the most of the format.

About time to wrap the 2020-2021 thread. Thinking back through the past year, there were quite a few high points for current and former Frogs. Here's my ranking of the most significant--let me know which you would rank higher/lower (or if I missed something).

Current/future Frogs

1. TCU men advance through NCAA regional to nationals for 18th time in last 31 years. Finish T15 at nationals and claim the longest current streak of NCAA golf appearances (31).

2. TCU men win Thunderbird Collegiate; tie school record for low round (264) and shoot second-lowest-ever 54-hole score (818); named national team of the week by Golfweek.

3. Jacob Skov Oleson is co-medalist at The Prestige in a strong field of 120.

4. Recruit Caitlyn Macnab successfully defends her South African Amateur title, then becomes first am in 14 years to win on the South African women’s pro circuit. Adds a top-20 finish on the Ladies European Tour. Ranked 66th-best amateur in the world before hitting her first college shot.

5. Chris Berzina and Brent Hamm qualify for the U.S. Amateur. Berzina also finishes top 5 in Texas State Am.

6. Filippo Celli finishes T2 at Wyoming Cowboy Classic.

7. Frogs beat SMU in dual match (and at NCAAs).

8. TCU women finish T2 at the Lamkin Invitational.

TCU Alumni
1. Paul Barjon wins KFT Huntsville Championship & secures his PGA Tour card for 2021-22. Also qualifies for the U.S. Open.

2. Julien Brun wins the Challenge Tour’s Brittany Open to secure his European Tour card for 2021-22.

3. Sanna Nuutinen contends to win the Ladies European Tour order of merit and represents Finland in the Olympics.

4. Hayden Springer Monday-qualifies into 2 KFT events; finishes top-10 in one. He also advances through local and sectional qualifying to earn a U.S. Open berth. All while helping care for a special-needs infant.

5. Tom Hoge cracks the top 100 in world rankings and advances through sectional qualifying to the U.S. Open.

6. Stefano Mazzoli gets first pro win (Antognolla Alps Open).

7. David Ravetto wins 2020 Brabazon Trophy (English Amateur Stroke Play). I may have totally missed this when it happened last August.

8. Angela Stanford earns her 100th LPGA career top 10. Named U.S. Solheim Cup assistant captain while also threatening to make the team on points.

9. Kris Tschetter posts a top-6 finish at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open.

Talked with Chris about Oakmont. He said it’s insane how much slope their is on both golf courses. Fairways are super narrow. Going to be fun to see how they do on it. Think greens are slowed down to about 11 for pace of play reasons. Interesting to see how much speed they gain over the course of the tournament

andrew had given it up and was working full time. Contacted me about a month ago and we started working. He is about to go back to playing full time. Don’t be shocked if he makes it through q school this year.

So close. Andrew Presley was right there through 69 holes of the first stage of the Korn Ferry Tour's Q School at Humble. Bogey-bogey-bogey finish left him 2 shots outside of the group advancing.
