Houston Chronicle: Texas, Oklahoma reach out to SEC about joining conference

You guys duck and dodge us. Cant beat someone who is unwilling to play.

TCU hasn't won a major bowl game in a decade.

A decade? Even a simpleton can add and subtract.

Math is hard for a uh grad and local 7 eleven employee to do without a machine

Unique thing about this attempt by ESPN to destroy and manipulate a conference is this time it’s a Power 5 league who won’t go down without a fight.
In reading this board and others about this UT/OU exodus, the predominate feeling that I've picked up is that now "The Big 12 is doomed/irrelevant/hardly better than the G-5/will be taking substantially less $ for TV/each team will cave if they get a Power Four invite/that it's "OVER."

This statement make me feel A LOT BETTER. Fight them on the ice the ole TCU way!

I really believe that in spite of this SEC "expansion" the rest of the FBS conferences are really NOT READY for a new massive conference reorganization at this time.

Notre Dame doesn't yet want to go 100% ACC, The PAC wants to retain their club of twelve, and the B1G really wants to "go East" and right now is not the time to go after UVA and UNC.

Can we just cauterize this wound (while baking UT/OU for the next four years $$$) add one or two - what we're required to by contract to keep our TV agreements full $ - and minimize the damage to the AAC by adding Cincinnati and Houston/or/contract with BYU fb for 2-3 years - kind an audition for them.

-30-team league
-Collective bargaining
-Salaries for players

Similar to what Dennis Dodd has speculated about…

College football realignment fallout: What's next with Texas, Oklahoma stating intent to leave Big 12 for SEC

—With the most best teams, the SEC will essentially be able to make its own rules. Why stop at a limit of 25 scholarships per year? The SEC could, on its own, go to 30. Why not 40? How about a 150-man roster?

—A Miami booster is essentially paying players for being on scholarship with the Hurricanes. Nick Saban claims Alabamaquarterback Bryce Young has earned almost $1 million. Taken to a logical conclusion, there is going to be faction of programs that will pay players and enter into group licensing agreements. That hints of unionization.

—Why stop there? Think reworked amateurism and eligibility rules. A streamlined enforcement model with more liberal rules where cases take weeks to be adjudicated instead of years. Think an SEC owned-and-operated streaming service that brings in even more money.

It's obvious this is the end game, but this is the question I keep asking:

How does basketball work in this format? What happens to programs like Gonzaga, Villanova, Xavier, and other strong basketball programs with no football or FCS football? Are there basketball only additions? Would a program like Kansas or Duke whose football is not strong enough to be a part of this super league be added as basketball only members? Would Kansas or Duke stand for that, being OK with being treated as a 2nd class citizen in football? You think programs would boycott such a league if they weren't invited for football and say to hell with your basketball only olive branch.

March Madness makes more money than the college football playoff. How does this new Super League organize a basketball postseason format that comes close to sniffing the revenue or excitement generated from March Madness? March Madness is so successful since it has very high casual interest. I doubt the interest level would be the same if it were a 16 team NBA style postseason format.

UCF and Cincinnati were the two realistic candidates a few years back with decent alumni base. UCF more of a commuter school historically but that has changed

memphis fan base size, facilities cost etc. sucked compared to UCF and Cincy
And there is a "TCU Boulevard" within four miles of the UCF campus. That says something, maybe not. Nevermind!
