Is it harder to swim in lane 8? Serious question. Do the lanes make a difference?

Totally. As Phormer said you have to deal with far more choppy water. Although, newer pool designs have somewhat mitigated that these days. And you can’t see the other racers as well so you can lose track of where you are position wise and whatnot. Generally, the best swimmers with the fastest times are in the middle.

It’s not impossible to win from the outside lanes, it’s just you don’t see it that often, particularly from an 18 year old. And he barely qualified for the final, he was the last to qualify by touching the wall .14 seconds quicker than the 9th place finisher.

In the women’s 100m backstroke prelim heats, the Olympic record was broken in three straight heats. Pretty cool. Sucks to hold the Olympic record for only about 4 minutes though.

Might be time to have him pee in a cup.

you truly have to have some stones to go up for a block on some of these men's volleyball players

With the current trend in gender-bending athletics it might soon be that you’d need some serious stones to go up for a block on some of the volleyball players identifying as female.
