TCU currently (or soon to be currently) has the best 2 LBs in school history

unfortunately both of them erroneously think they are WRs.

5 star recruit SHAD BANKS would be the best Inside LB TCU has ever had in its entire history. He is a once in a lifetime athlete who can carry 235 lbs with tremendous speed and agility. He may be amenable to a position switch and if so, Tcu’s defense takes an almost unfathomable and exponential leap to the top of all of college football and would be one of the Top 3 defenses in the nation.............IF..............the next potential LB smartens up also.....

and

That guy is........YUP........you guessed it.........former 5 star recruit MARCEL BROOKS who is currently buried on the depth chart at WR. Patterson was generous in praising Brooks play as a WR IN Spring Ball saying he was running 2nd and 3rd team at times. That was just to keep BROOKS motivated. In fact will be running 3rd and 4th team in Fall Camp when all injured players are back. Patterson praised him because it will look bad if a 5 star transfer quits and gives up on TCU.

Anyone who knows football well knows BROOKS is out of position at WR. He does NOT have WR speed and he is not a good route runner. In fact he looks lost out there at WR.

Conversely he is potentially a devastating outside LB with slightly better speed than former TCU and NFL LB Paul Dawson.

BROOKS at times at LSU made some incredible plays as a LB and that was as a freshman. In fact some plays he made at LSU at LB, made highlight reels they were so dominating. He was penciled as the starting LB for the following yr at LSU had he stayed.

BROOKS and BANKS would be the best LB duo in the history of TCU and (by far) the best LB unit in the Big 12.

I think both would be All American LBs by their junior yr and would be the #1 LB duo in the nation before they went on to the pros.

But..........no..........they may very foolishly fritter away all that potential as 3rd string WRs.

Would be a shame to see two 5 star Recruits wasted like that when they are so tremendously suited for LB and have obvious superstar abilities.

I’m just curious who you guys think BROOKS will beat out at WR ?

THE 4 WR STARTERS:

Q/JOHNSTON
(no chance)

SAVION WILLIAMS
(no chance - coaches stated he is already penciled in as the starter opposite QJ)

JD SPIELMAN
(no chance - Spielman is an accomplished and dependable slot WR with explosive abilities)

TAYE BARBER
(no chance - Barber is a fabulous playmaker)

*************
WR BACKUPS

is BROOKS better than -

BARKLEY
(no - not even close - Barkley is a speedster who runs great routes)

DARIUS DAVIS
(no - this one is laughable - Davis is a bigtime playmaker)

DEANDRE ROGERS
(no - TE Deandre Rogers is one of the greatest recruits to ever sign with TCU - coaches have to get him on the field which means he takes a receiver position when he is out there - coaches think this guy has NFL All-Pro potential)

QUINCY BROWN
(no - 4 star WR who was Bamas #2 WR target and LSU, Clemson, Florida, Georgia and Tenn #1 WR target. He was much more highly recruited than Q Johnston and coaches think he may eventually be better than Q Johnston)

BLAIR CONWRIGHT
(no - coaches were raving about this guy in Spring Ball and expect big things from him)

CALEB MEDFORD
(no - at 6’3” 210 with great speed coaches have to find a way to get this guy in the field - he has dominated at times in practices)

CHASE CURTIS and JASPER LOTT
(no - coaches are fascinated with these two guys who look extremely good in practices and are both showing exceptional and unexpectedly fast improvement)

BLAKE NOWELL
(no - NOWELL outplayed the crap outta Brooks in Spring Ball)

AHMONTE WATKINS
(no - Watkins is going to be Turpin 2.0 only a bigger frame - was RB in HS but will be slot receiver at TCU - absolutely electric player - will return punts and kickoffs this Fall)

I wonder how many fat sloppy couch potatoes on this board still think BROOKS is a WR and will contribute at that position ?

And I also wonder how many here realize how dominating he was at times at LSU as a LB ?

BROOKS and BANKS at LB at TCU would be so incredibly dominating it would almost be illegal !!

Here is my concept of the BEST DEFENSE in all of college football (if it ever came to pass) with my starsies signifying potential

* part time starter at TCU
**full time TCU starter but not All B12 player
***All B12 (2nd team or Hon mention)
****All B12, All American and NFL draftee
*****High NFL draftee
******potential 1st Rd NFL draftee

DE
OCHAUN MATHIS ****
potential All Big 12 and NFL bound)
COLT ELLISON ***
(Injuries slowing him but still good player)

DT
JAQUEZE SORRELLS *****
(this 4 star recruit’s potential is off the charts)
SONI MISI ***
(very underrated - will be good but not NFL)

DT
PATRICK JENKINS ******
(former 4 star recruit was dominant as a frosh)
EARL BARQUET ***
(gonna be good in college but NFL unlikely)

DE
KHARI COLEMAN ***
(will be great college player but small for NFL)
LANDON WATSON ****
(yet another in long line of NFL bound DEs)

LB ******
SHAD BANKS
(Unreal speed for big guy - could play LB in NFL now - at nearly 240 lbs with great speed this guy - CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS - will knock opposing RBs backwards as he fills the holes with speed and hits RBs so hard with violent collisions - that they start avoiding his area of the field)

LB
MARCEL BROOKS ****
(Uncanny natural playmaker at LB needs 15 more lbs in order to be elite LB - excels in open field defense as an outside LB should - as teams try to avoid the violent collisions of Shad Banks, that leaves Brooks to do what he does best - nail down offensive players with his uncanny abilities in the open field as they try to get loose)

CB
NOAH DANIELS ****
(NFL potential w/great size and speed)
MARVIN COVINGTON ****
(will takeover when Daniels leaves)

CB
TREVIUS TOMLINSON *****
(already an All American he is NFL bound)
KEONTE JENKINS ****
(will take over when Tomlinson leaves)

S
BUD CLARK *****
(will be as almost as good as Moehrig)

S
BRADFORD / VAN ZANDT / CAMARA ***
(will be very good in college but NFL not likely)

S
FOSTER / McCUIN / ARMSTEAD ***
(same as Bradford / Van Zandt)

This would be a dream defense the likes of which you would only see once in your lifetime.

Combined with an offense featuring veteran QB DUGGAN, future NFL WR Q JOHNSTON, SAVION WILLIAMS, QUINCY BROWN, DEANDRE ROGERS, AHMONTE WATKINS, and RBs EVANS and BARLOW........this team would be legendary !!
