GoFrogs: Five Horned Frogs Earn All-Regional Honors

FORT WORTH – A school-record five TCU women's soccer athletes were voted to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region. Emily Alvarado, Grace Collins, Brandi Peterson and Yazmeen Ryan were selected to the first team, while Messiah Bright was named to the second team.

Alvarado put together an outstanding senior campaign, starting 15 games. The Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year posted a 0.54 goals against average with an .875 save percentage. He tallied eight shutouts and departs TCU as the all-time leader with 21.

The Big 12 Player of the Year, Collins was instrumental in TCU's run to the regular season title. Her career-high eight goals were tops on the team. She added a pair of assists for 18 points on the year. She led the team with four game-winning goals, 54 shots and 24 shots on goal.

A first-team all-conference performer, Peterson was the leader of the Frogs' defensive corps. She led the team with 1,473 minutes on the pitch. She played the entirety of 15 games and helped the Frogs to nine shutouts on the year. Offensively, she contributed the overtime game-winning goal at Oklahoma State and added an assist in the win over Texas.

For the fourth time in her career, Ryan has been selected to the All-Midwest Region. As a freshman, she earned third-team recognition. The last three seasons have seen her voted to the first-team. A four-time All-Big 12 performer, Ryan led the team with 20 points (7 goals, 6 assists). She departs TCU as the program's all-time leader in assists (23) and ranks fifth all-time in goals (23) and third in points (69).

A second-team all-conference performer, Bright ranked third on the team with nine points (4 goals and 1 assist). Three of her four goals came in the spring campaign. It's the third time in her career to be selected to the All-Region team.

TCU has had an all-region performer in each of the last five years. Bobbi Clemmer's recognition in 2014 on the third team was the first under head coach Eric Bell. Jordan Calhoun was TCU's first-ever recipient in 2008. Emma Heckendorn was named to the third-team in 2016. Four Frog were named in 2017. Ryan Williams (1st-team), Katie Lund and Karitas Tomasdottir (2nd-team) and Ryan (3rd-team) were honored. Ryan and Bright were TCU's 2018 and 2019 honorees.
