DMN: Can Memphis transfer Obinna Eze help fix the offensive line?
By Katherine G Griffith
The 2021 football season is fast approaching which means it’s time for younger players to step into the holes left due to graduation and the NFL draft. Who will these players be? Here is breakout candidate No. 4:
Obinna Eze
Year: Junior
Position: OT
2020 Stats: Started in all 11 games at left tackle for Memphis; quarterback Brady White threw for 3,380 yards with Eze protecting his blind side.
Obinna Eze is a graduate transfer from Memphis where he started every game the last two seasons. Eze was a highly recruited four-star prospect with offers to Alabma, Auburn and Florida, and it’s safe to say that Eze is a big guy, standing at 6-8, 315 pounds.
In 2020, the TCU offensive line allowed quarterback Max Duggan to be sacked 23 times, and Eze might just be the answer to the problem. If Eze can stop opposing rushers from getting into the backfield, Duggan will have more time to throw the ball downfield.
