GoFrogs: No. 4 TCU Wins Spring Opener Against Oklahoma

FORT WORTH – In an offensive frenzy that saw 23 Horned Frog shots, the No. 4 TCU soccer team took down Oklahoma, 2-0. Two tallies back-to-back in the first half helped guide the Frogs to victory. The game marked a return to the field for the first time since Nov. 6.

The Rundown
TCU (9-0-1) put together two very strong offensive halves of play, recording 11 shots in the first period and 12 in the second.

Messiah Bright got the Frogs on the board first in the 32nd minute, beating Oklahoma goalkeeper Leah Radow in a one-on-one off a beautiful feed from Yazmeen Ryan. With the goalkeeper out of position, Bright tapped in her second goal of the season to open the scoring. The tally stood up as the game-winning goal.

Just a minute later, Ryan got in on the scoring with a rocket past the keeper. The shot beat her to the right post. The feed from Gracie Brian put the senior in prime position just outside the 6-yard box for the strike.

Defensively, the Frogs only allowed two Sooner shots in each half and none on goal. Lauren Kellett made her collegiate debut in goal, replacing Emily Alvarado at the beginning of the second half.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell

On playing the first game this spring:
"It was great to get back on the field and it was a good result. I am happy we came away, pretty much, unscathed and we did some really good things. Some things we will have to watch on tape and get better. Like I told our group, it's hard to win college soccer games. Hats off to them for getting it done against a worthy opponent, but there is work to be done.

I know most of you probably couldn't give a rats's ass about women's soccer but this team is good enough to make a deep run in their tourney this spring.
I’m excited about it. Are the girls that got drafted still on the team this spring or did we lose 2 really good players?
