Six of our eight wind farms are offline due to temps. Gonna see rolling outages sooner than expected.
According to a friend back home, San Angelo, rolling blackouts have already started there this evening.

I saw where Bill Gates also believes in nuclear, and is working on a design for a safer nuclear plant.
The outliers aside, they are pretty damn safe.I saw where Bill Gates also believes in nuclear, and is working on a design for a safer nuclear plant.
So who winds up footing the bill for the absence of expected or planned generation?Six of our eight wind farms are offline due to temps. Gonna see rolling outages sooner than expected.
In this case, it is an Act of God and the biz interruption insurance kicks in.So who winds up footing the bill for the absence of expected or planned generation?
Are wind operators required to generate at certain times since they can't control wind timing?

I could be wrong (I often am) but I thought it was spelled Hoopdies.
the best is how they "deice" a green energy wind turbine....by using a fossil fuel burning helicopter that burns gallons a minute while spraying a toxic mix of petrochemicals on the blades....I guess some people will be getting "green jobs" deicing wind turbines. Hopefully, that will buy them some time to learn to code before global warming eliminates the need for those jobs.
going to have to learn to make batteries from the acidic levels in "dirt" if we really expect energy storage capacity from batteries to ever be truly viable as a way to smooth the curve....It will almost certainly have to be part of the answer if some of the more optimistic fossil fuel free energy dreams have a snowballs chance unless quantum leaps in electricity storage are made over the next decade.
