GoFrogs: Ryan Drafted Sixth Overall By Portland

FORT WORTH - TCU women's soccer senior Yazmeen Ryan made program history Wednesday night becoming the highest-ever draft pick as she was tabbed with the sixth overall selection by Portland Thorns FC. She becomes the second draft pick in program history, joining Ryan Williams who was selected in the 2018 draft.

"We are very happy for her," said head coach Eric Bell. "This is a culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication to the game. She's proven throughout her four years here that she's a top-choice player. This has been one of her dreams come true. Now she gets a chance to be a professional soccer player and I'm very happy for her and proud of her."

Ryan is TCU's first-ever four-time all-conference performer. She is a three-time first-team honoree. Additionally, Ryan is a two-time USSCA All-Region performer. She played in and started seven games in the fall. Two of her three goals scored on the year were game-winners.

For her career, Ryan has left her mark on the record books. She ranks tied for third all-time with 17 career assists and eighth all-time in goals scored with 19. Her 55 career points are sixth all-time. She has played 68 career games with 64 starts. Of her 19 career goals, 10 have been game-winners.

Portland Thorns FC is one of the original NWSL teams, making its debut in 2013. The organization has won two NWSL championships. It has qualified for the playoffs in seven of the eight seasons.
