each year we are required to have one guy who flings away from behind the 3 pt arc like a rusty trebuchet prompting a [ What the heck? ] was that response from the fan base and alums

in 2017 and 2018 it was jd, last year smith, and this year it could be ladee though don't count out easley, o'bannon, or pearson
Exactly...and JD and A rob the years before that. It's just so easy to correct. You are benched when you shoot under 20% and still take 3's. You don't even get on the court for a game if you shoot under 10% and still take a 3. Point being, it's coaching if you have your poor shooting big men jacking 3's. Have the freaking conversation.

Didn’t see the game, but some of it is probably due to the 30 second shot clock. Huge difference between a guy jacking up a shot with 15 secs left vs 5. But then a big guy that can’t shoot shouldn’t even be out beyond the 3-pt line in the first place.

It didn't help that Providence dialed up a full court press and TCU struggled to beat it effectively. Usually cross midcourt with 22 seconds left in the shot clock then someone dribbled away 8 or 10 seconds at the top of key while three players stood outside the arc waiting for the ball.

So is smith in the portal actually a true thing?

Yep. Coaching staff tried to talk him into staying. They don't want him to leave.

Kids nowadays make a lot of bad decisions because they are advised by the wrong people and have a false sense of their value. They all think and have been told, most of their lives, that they are going to play in the NBA.

The ironic part part is, Diante would have played big minutes last night, due to the injuries and Covid. If he had played well, he would have been back to where he was in the preseason.

Most kids aren't willing to fight through the tough stuff. It's too bad.

Honestly is a shame. Most transfers don’t work out. So yes kids are def not as tough as they used to be. See kaden archie has since transferred again?

You the man Skip. The vast vast majority of those who transfer end up worse off - Fisher, Archie, Alok, the list goes. Let’s see if Davis keeps his head on at SMU. Archie was part of the exodus after the Hawaii. Ironically, had he stayed, would have seen those big minutes due to roster situation. Very sad.

Smith won't be the last to enter the portal.

I think the best way to view the portal is as a “friend of the program.” Figuring that it will be very rare when one or more aren’t pulled into it so maybe we should start thinking about who should be pushed into it to clear space for better talent acquisition possibilities. Fretting over who jumps into the portal just doesn’t seem rational nor does fearing who might.

This team would never win a game without Samuel. Even though he does not score a ton he impacts the game more then anyone else. How come our other big man, the freshman never plays?

Samuel is somewhat like Kenny Hill in that he might not be that good/great a player or everything that people hoped he'd be, but we'd be totally screwed without him.

Hell, we're kinda screwed with him, but we'd be a lot more screwed.

oh, as far as lat he is the same old lat shooting 35% from the floor and 37% from behind the arc.

Assume the announcers just call him Thor squared.
