This is a trend. We are not getting better. We are getting worse. Whatever Patterson & the coaching staff are doing over the last 2.5 years is not working.
If you go by the recruiting rankings, which I only put minimal stock in, we've been 3rd in the Big 12 recruiting rankings for the last 5+ years. So according to them, we have the TALENT.
But our teams have looked so sloppy & undisciplined the last 2.5 years. We have been outcoached during that period.
Just yesterday:
1. We had multiple personal foul penalties that killed momentum or kept drives alive for OU.
2. A punter who can't execute punting to the 10 yard line instead of into the endzone costing 20 yards.
3. An offensive line that can't run or pass block.
4. Multiple false starts.
5. Linebackers that don't use outside leverage and allow big plays to be bounced outside.
6. Cornerbacks that don't try to intercept the ball.
7. Offensive play calling that includes a halfback pass on 2nd and 2 when we had just been having success running and throwing the ball.
8. A special teams player that doesn't understand the concept of downing the ball near the goal line on a punt and instead downs it at the 5 costing us the ability to pin OU up against their own goal line.
9. Punting with 8 minutes left in the game down 20 instead of actually trying to WIN THE GAME and go for it on 4th and short.
The list goes on and on but TCU football is getting worse, not better. It's been a fun ride of 9 & 10 win seasons but those days are over unless some BIG changes occur.
