GoFrogs: #12 TCU Topples #4 Oklahoma State In Overtime

STILLWATER, Okla. – In a battle of undefeated teams, No. 12 TCU rallied for a 2-1 overtime win at No. 4 Oklahoma State in Stillwater Friday night. Brandi Peterson ended the contest just 30 seconds into overtime with her first career goal to propel the Horned Frogs to the top of the league standings with a record of 3-0-1.

The Rundown
With the clock winding down in regulation, TCU was pushing hard for the equalizer. After a couple near misses earlier in the second half, the Horned Frogs were finally rewarded with the game-tying goal in the 86th minute. The ball bounced around inside the 18 before Grace Collins was able to get control. Her shot deflected off the foot of Maddy Warren and redirected into the goal to tie the game at one.

Brandi Peterson took matters into her own hands in overtime, carrying the ball down the middle of the field. She unleased a shot from the top of the 18 that eluded the diving keeper for the game-winning tally.

The late game heroics wouldn't have been possible without the play of Emily Alvarado in goal. She finished the match with seven saves, five of which came in the second half. She made a pair of diving stops on drives from distance. She also faced down a pair of point-blank shots to keep the TCU deficit at just one.

Oklahoma State's only tally came in the 23rd minute. Hannah Webb unleashed a high shot that found the far upper corner of the goal. It was the first goal allowed by TCU this season.

Stat of the Game
4:33
– The Horned Frogs scored two goals in the final 4:33 of game action to score the come-from-behind victory. Maddy Warren's goal in regulation came with 4:03 to go, while Brandi Peterson's tally came just 30 seconds into the first overtime.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
Game assessment
"It's a tough place to play. It was a great performance by Oklahoma State. They are a tough team to break down and score on. Credit to our group for finding a way to do that. I'm very proud of our group for what they were able to accomplish here in a tough environment."

On getting the game-tying goal and keeping the momentum into OT
"We thought when we went into the half, they (Oklahoma State) were looking a little tired. So, we wanted to stick with the game plan of passing the ball, moving the ball and changing the point of attack. I think that paid off in the second half. They got really tired and stretched, so when overtime started, the seams and openings were very big and Brandi took advantage of that. It was a great goal, a great shot. She's shown that sometimes in practice, but credit to her for doing it in the big stage of the game."
