Hutto’s Watson eager to shine as first chapter of football career about to close
Rick Cantu
Austin American-Statesman
Landyn Watson's football education began before he played a game at Hutto High.
Hippos coach Brad LaPlante said Watson had "the physique of some juniors" while playing in the eighth grade. Around the same time, Tim Crowder, a member of the Texas football team that won the national championship in 2005 who now trains Watson, predicted he would someday play college football.
For Watson, football is a book with three chapters. Now a 6-foot-3, 240-pound senior defensive end, he's preparing to close out his high school career this fall having been named one of the Austin area's top 100 all-time prep players.
His next chapter begins next season at TCU.
