Was I supposed to type something here?

The whole "Oooh! Their hearts will shoot out their left nostril if we play!" garbage was just there to terrify parents and be available as a weapon to keep schools closed. As with all of the Panic Pronouncements, it falls apart under the barest level of actual scrutiny.

With the numbers falling for the past three weeks, and all signs indicating that the virus is burning itself out, the Panic Pushers will get increasingly desperate, and throw out progressively wilder and crazier things in an effort to keep the herd panicked. The whole "National Mandate To Wear Masks" is one of these ridiculous and tyrannical things: Wholly useless, but pronounced as if it is the Gospel and accepted by all the Media and other Usual Suspects.

Screw 'em.

I've said the real thing they fear isn't teams playing and getting/spreading infections but they fear the most teams playing and nothing bad happening which means its a lot harder to keep pushing coronavirus fear

The Big 10 and Pac 12 playing in the spring will be like the XFL. At first people will tune in, but people will lose interest as we go along especially since there is no playoff or bowl at the end.
Or key stars ... never the less, these leagues won't be playing. A spring season was just a Pacifier for the kids, to get over their season being gone.

So now it's revealed that the heart study was so deeply flawed that it should be withdrawn and a saliva test has been developed that gives accurate results in hours? And two of the P5 conferences have canceled their seasons? The lawsuits from the businesses affected by this will dwarf any lawsuits by parents of possibly affected players.
The leaders of the Big10 and PAC have truly screwed the pooch on this one. Their vague reference to playing in the spring (with no plans whatsoever to actually do so) is solely to avoid being sued by their respective schools.
This is clearly a political decision. Heads will roll and rightfully so.
This may result in the actual end of the PAC. Nobody watches or really cares about it, certainly not the liberal elite faculty and administrators. Like SMU they would prefer athletics and particularly football to be downsized or completely eliminated. Good riddance. Let the few schools that want to play come to the Big12.

Starting to feel like Big 10 Commissioner Kevin Warren’s conference relationship may be more at risk than Nebraska’s at this point. Still early but if this blows up on the Big 10 you can bet college Presidents are not taking the gas.

Caseloads and hospitalizations have fallen off a cliff over the last week here in Midland.
