Those shoes at a BBQ cookoff?

Ha! I actually have 2 pair of those. The old ones are beat to hell and are my “mow the lawn” and “bbq” shoes. I wear those when I cook. My wife actually got on me when she saw the picture too. But I rented a cabin at the cookoff and was able to shower and change between brisket turn in at 3 and awards at 5, so I wore the nicer pair. Had them with me because I drove straight there from a family vacation.

Might get crucified by the 'purists' but I just got a Traeger and am absolutely loving it. Made two briskets already and have been solid both times, though still refining my technique (the eternal journey!)

Lost by 2/10ths of a point to a 7-time SCA steak champ. Taste and temp were perfect. I think the tiny split at the top left hurt me.

Also, these ribs took 5th of 30. The brisket looked alright but didn’t do [ Finebaum ]. And once again, we’re not even going to talk about chicken, which shouldn’t even count as barbecue.
