Denying conservative student groups on campus ...

Baylor, TCU deny recognition to conservative student group Turning Point USA

Christian Post

Turning Point USA TCU Vice President Reagan Gates told the news outlet that it is “important to give a space to like-minded students where we can all learn and grow together with our common values.”

“That is something TCU promotes, yet has denied us,” Gates argued, adding that the TCU is “denying a home for the quiet conservatives on campus and hushing our voice.”

My goodness:

1. White Supremecists;

2. The Alt-Right;

3. Racism;

4. Hitler?

What a great group to let on campus to spread their poison among our student population?

Heck, might as well invite the other far right and far left onto our campuses.

Take your hate and go to Liberty University where I know they'd love to have you and your Thursday night Cross Burning and Bible Study Group.

Father’s best friend (former Exxon VP once in charge of Venezuelan operations) informed Baylor last Friday that he was removing the school as a beneficiary over this plus. Don’t know how much for sure but Father says likely in the millions. He also asked where they want him to return his embossed BU seal chair and diplomas.

Might as well invite the Young Democratic Socialists to campus....oh wait... Scared that conservative thought might disrupt the liberal monopoly of higher education?

Really, so this Exxon Mobile guy is more interested in punishing Baylor for not letting a right wing hate group achieve campus recognition than yesterday's oil crash?

As a shareholder in Exxon/Mobile that gives me great confidence in corporate leadership.

I'd tell him to ship them to the Dean of Religion so they can send him a new Bible in return.

Maybe he'll read this one.

This guy is 87 years old. His annual giving to BU has dropped or stopped altogether in recent years due to his displeasure with all the athletic crap. This was just the straw that broke it all.

Hey, I have no problem with TCU sponsoring forums and allowing their hate group spokes person on campus to give a presentation, debate, show flash cards, power points, etc.

TCU had David Duke speak as well as far left figures.

University means universal thought. Each TCU student should have his/her belief system challenged every day they are on our campus.

I think our student body is bright enough to know intellectual dishonesty when it crawls out of the woodwork.

It is another thing to officially make it part of our TCU community.

That is the difference.

If you want to form a hate group, have at it.

But don't ask TCU to provide a physical building, HVAC, and the table and chairs to do it.

How early in the morning do you start drinking?

Turning Point USA has chapters on numerous colleges and high schools throughout the country. It's a conservative organization that's been endorsed by several U.S. Senators, present and former Cabinet officials, and President Trump himself. Mark Cuban even addressed one of the group's high school forums a couple of years ago. Mark Cuban! Yeah, he's a Klansman for sure.

Heaven forbid that a university like TCU be a forum for free speech and the peaceful exchange of ideas by students and others.

Now, go back to watching CNN before you pass out.

Did you read it? TPUSA is consistently criticized by white supremacists (per the article) for employing and supporting diversity. Candace Owens stepped down for making comments about Hitler. Turning Point has Latino and African american chapters. But please read one article and conclude it supports white supremacism, racism, and Hitler.

I am not super familiar with TP but I know the majority of college professors are strong left leaning, backed by data. The underlying TCU student body may be majority conservative, but being able to express those views is a no-go.

Yeah, I read it and it was rather biased. Breitbart had a better article about the controversy. But I suppose Breitbart is a "hate" site like TP USA is a "hate" group in your book, right?

As to your point that TCU shouldn't allow a TP USA chapter to form on campus because then TCU would then have to allow them access to a "physical building, HVAC, and chairs," well, the last time I checked tuition money helps pay for such amenities. If conservative, tuition-paying TCU students want to form a group, who the hell are you to tell them that they can't avail themselves of amenities that they're paying for but that liberal students can? Why should conservative students be treated like second-class citizens in the campus community?
