MetroNews: TCU looms as ideal opponent for a West Virginia road win

By Alex Hickey in Sports, WVU Sports

It is conceivable that West Virginia will pick up more Big 12 road wins in the next three days than it has in the past two seasons combined.

WVU has only one Big 12 road win since the start of 2019, but is in prime position to make that number a memory.

The 17th-ranked Mountaineers (19-7, 7-6 Big 12) open a two-game, three-day road trip against a pair of teams hurtling in the wrong direction with Saturday afternoon’s game at TCU. The Horned Frogs (14-12, 5-8) are 1-6 in their past seven games.

Here is Hickey’s dirge-like post game summary packed with a record number of apocalyptic adjectives such as disastrous, tipping point, horrendous, depressing, frustrated, low point, rock bottom, and unsightly. Also chooses “lifeless atmosphere” to describe our arena. (Probably accurate).

Certainly a lifeless atmosphere as compared to Morgantown. It seems like our fans have had trouble getting up for games against WVU in all sports even when one or both teams are good. Outside of the one Big Monday game against them a couple years ago I don't remember a super energized crowd for any game against them.

On the other hand our basketball atmosphere is probably pretty wild as compared to most games in Austin, Norman, or Stillwater the last few years so it's all relative.
