Austin American-Statesman: Longhorns ‘shut the crowd up, felt good’ in snapping three-game skid

FORT WORTH — For once, you could see it written all over the opposing players’ faces.

What!? We lost to Texas?

TCU senior Desmond Bane said he wasn’t sure “if it was us not taking them serious enough.” But here in what his coach Jamie Dixon calls the dog days of the basketball season, anything is possible.

That’s how the Frogs felt Wednesday after the Longhorns escaped Schollmaier Arena with a much-needed 62-61 win. Texas (13-7, 3-4 Big 12) snapped a three-game losing skid by hitting 11 3-pointers, several in the last second of the shot clock, and held tight during a late TCU rally.

WTH with Bane? Not just our best player but one of the best in the league sits almost the entire second half of the first half with two fouls. Ends up taking just eight shots, we don't know how or try to get the ball to him and get him good looks. Too many games this year where he has little impact. Come on coach.

WIsh we had players on our team that had the attitude of wanting to “shut the crowd up” when on the road. Texas wanted the game more and you could see it from the opening tip. Played with much more energy than us.

1. Don't ever underestimate an opponent.
2. Don't get packed by the rim...especially when you're down 7+
3. Play quality D up until the buzzer sounds to end a half.
4. #13 can open his eyes now.

Must have now playing good enough defense. Which of course is all that counts.

fair enough

frogs do have a "trap game" so to speak next wednesday in stillwater.

cowboys are 0-7, at ou on saturday, and are one of a few "winnable" road games tcu has left on the schedule, but it sits between frogs at baylor and then frogs hosting kansas

Hopefully last night will have the team focus on every game the rest of the way

I just saw a team that got hot shooting threes. Didn't see anything from the opening tip to support the idea Texas "wanted the game more."

i saw jason febres play a few games in high school and he was fearless shooting the basketball.

talking to friends who are texas alums he has struggled since coming to texas and basically has become a guy who plants himself on the arc looking for 3's and he happened to get hot last night.
