I think you're right. It's partly because they left the Big 12 and disconnected to a degree from the state of Texas, but a lot of it (and maybe most of it) has to do with everyone now being on equal footing in terms of TV. Used to be going to Nebraska or Arkansas meant kids would get a lot more exposure than they would going to a TCU, a Baylor, a Texas Tech, or any number of schools. That huge advantage in recruiting is gone forever. And slowly but surely their in-game attendance figures will continue to drop as well.
