Why is TCU/GP Unsuited to B12?

It may boil down simply to our inability to recruit the depth we need, but GP had fabulous success in the MWC for 7 years before moving to B12:

7 years MWC -- conference record 48-7 (87% win rate) (last 3 seasons undefeated)

7+ years B12: 37-30 (55% win rate)(16-15 since 2016)

The trend of B12 is downward, after a decent start. And consistency has been poor.

What is it about playing in the MWC vs. B12? B12 has helped our $$, recruiting, upgrades to facilities, etc. And yet our on-field performance by any measure you want to look at has been dramatically worse than prior to B12. Does coaching take on a premium in B12 that didn't exist in MWC? That is, the coaches are better so any coaching advantage we had MWC is gone? Good coaches got snapped up by B12 and other power conference schools?

Interesting but analogous situation going on at MSU with Dantonio. If they continue to suck this year, that will be 4 stinkers out of the last 5 seasons for them, with no conference change to explain the downturn. May just be the the standard life cycle of a coach that doesn't want to change. Ferentz is the only other one out there with a longer tenure, and they are as mediocre as it gets. Solid and well coached but just as resistant to change.

When you look at your data listed, half those losses came since 2016. Also about the tie Sonny started calling offense. (2017, we cannot discount Dykes being on staff as a reason some plays made sense.) And we had major injured teams that made bowls. And in 2017 we made a Conf champ game. So I think both are suited for the b12, I just think the offensive coordinator is not suited to be an OC. Granted, the HC makes those calls on who is hired.
