GP is the 4-2-5 defense innovator. When he was running it in the MWC it was unique and teams had short windows to prepare for it, and he was able to out scheme most folks. Today, this defense is prevalent in college football and even some spots in the NFL. No one is surprised when they see it anymore, thus the uniqueness is gone. Add to the fact that many teams are able to out recruit TCU and its a double negative. Not sure how to fix it at the moment, but the system needs and overhaul.

Gary is against change. In coaches, in philosophy. Pretty much anything. That catches up to you after say, 18 years or so.

Other than the 41-yard run at the end, the defense shut down the running game. Our problem remains that our front four can’t get sustained pressure on the passer. It results in our secondary getting left out there to cover a receiver for too long.

Secondly, whoever has manned the linebacker spot opposite of Wallow has had numerous coverage breakdowns a game. It has become a pressure release valve for opposing QB's.
