#2. One last trip f toAustralia. The 15 hour flight would be hard given my limitations but I’d gets lots of reading in
Then I could sit at Brunettis, sip coffee and watch the world go byvisit my favorite coffee roaster at the Queen Victoria Market. I drink a lot of coffee when I am down there

New bucket list sounds like your getting better, my prayers that continues... I'm in the middle of reading
The British are Coming (Stan Atkinson), I covers the time period from 1775-1777 and gives a good overview of the economic, political, military and social environments both in the Colonies and in England.... it's been a great read so far!!

My last military assignment was with an A-10 Warthog wing. The first thing I asked when I got there was how to get a ride in one of them. Was told that only 2 were built with a back seat...one crashed and the other was on a stick as a static display. So, your first bucket item is off the table.

I had a Peters Brother’s custom make what they call a Shady Oaks — Amon Carter’s hat. Very similar to an open road and made right in downtown Fort Worth. Can’t remember what I paid.

There is only 1, two seat A-10, if they would let me I would gladly pay the gas bill to take you for a ride. I know there is at least 1 former Viper driver on this forum! As for books, The Ravens (USAF FACs for Vang Pao in Laos during Vietnam) or We Were Soldiers Once and Young. Both awesome!

I’ve always been interested in the Indian wars of the late 1800. Especially Custer. Have been to the big horn battlefield a couple of times in my life. Nathaniel Philbrick has an interesting take on what happened in the years and months leading up to the battle and the battle itself. If that’s the kind of military history you enjoy. I recommend it.

Sorry forgot to put the name of the book. It’s titled “The Last Stand”

Machu Pichu was always on my bucket list, but I doubt it now. Went to Britain 5 years ago and would love to go again, but the wife wants to go to Italy. I am saving up my frequent flyer miles so I can fly business class to Europe.

I guess I am one of the few people who don't want to go to Asia. Just no interest. Egypt and the pyramids would be there, if I could be assured safety(I was blown away by the Egyptian section of the British Museum). I also want to see New England in the fall again (I lived there for 2 years).

Reading I am more of a sci-fi and fantasy guy, with history (esp. Medieval and Renaissance) and science. Watching movies is big with me. And I love to play golf and play casino table games.

Favorites I've kept on my bookshelf:

"A Few Great Captains" by DeWitt S. Copp -- the story of early military aviation and the "founders" of the Air Force

"The Nightingale's Song" by Robert Timberg -- Vietnam era

"Ghost Soldiers" by Hampton Sides -- WWII Phillipines rescue mission

"When Pride Still Mattered" by David Maraniss -- not military...a biography of Vince Lombardi. Pay special attention to Lombardi's Jesuit education and the philosophy of "free will" instilled in him (and how that affected his leadership/coaching style)

Wes, I hope and pray that you get back down to Melbourne to get to QVM and see an Aussie rules football game.. Australians are wonderful folks and for the most part love Americans (especially Texans) and get us.. Speaking of, there's a recent McArthur biography (Douglas McArthur: American Warrior by Arthur Herman) who goes into length about his time in Darwin, AU re-grouping after retreating from Batan.
