TCU drops in annual U.S. News college rankings

By Nikki Spellman

TCU fell 17 spots in a ranking of U.S. colleges – a drop that might be due to a slip in graduation rates and selectivity, as well as an increase in the number of schools surveyed.

After coming in at No. 80 in last year’s U.S. News and World Report list of America’s Best Colleges, TCU recently fell to No. 97. Their ranking is tied with Drexel University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Saint Louis University, University of Denver, and the University of San Francisco.

University officials attributed the ranking to changes in how U.S. News compiles its data.

We add a medical school, world class business school addition, $100 million in Athletics additions and this equals a drop in rankings...get out of here. Something is up here.

An to further confound the issue the previous rankings of other universities within the state remained seemingly

untouched. UT - #48, SMU - #64, A&M - 70, Baylor - #79. An explanation would seem to be in order.

"Morse also said TCU also had a weak performance in social mobility, a factor that considers how well schools are enrolling and graduating low-income students, specifically those receiving Pell Grants."

We scored miserably on our diversity quotient and were thusly beaten about the head and shoulders.

How many extra points did Harvard get this year for trying to completely abolish their students’ right to free assembly?

Is there a publication that ranks educational institutions on the seemingly unimportant things, like, I don’t know... how well they educate students, maybe?
