They’ve now changed it to 1886. Which is still wrong. All current Texas land (and then some) was included in the treaty of Hidalgo in 1848.

Actually, if you accept Santa Anna's surrender after San Jacinto, that land becomes property of the Republic of Texas in 1836. 1848 was the Mexican treaty (Guadalupe Hidalgo) settlement with the US.

Good to know....I emailed both copyists Sunday, pointing out the mistake, but not received a reply...and didn't really expect one....
