Honorable mention football:

Tech 2006
This is a great one. I'll never forget the stupefied look on Leach's face after being held to a lone field goal for the first time ever. And the arrogant Tech fans walking out of the stadium quiet after walking in with so much bluster about hanging 50 on us was so fabulous on so many levels.

All that said, for me the Rose Bowl has to be #1 followed closely by the Peach Bowl simply because both of those wins proved we should have been competing for a national championship those years. Then I'd go with the 2010 Utah game at Amon G. because the first College Game Day visit to campus followed by 8 hours of heavy day drinking followed by shock and awe in a stadium so loud and raucous it's probably never been so loud before or sense... That's just better than beating Tech 12-3 as wonderful as that one was.

1) Rose Bowl.

2) 2009 TCU vs Utah

3) 2008 TCU vs BYU. They came into the game top 10, undefeated with a Heisman candidate. We destroyed them and Kerley came alive (probably not actually my #3, but hasn't been mentioned yet). Stadium was rocking and was loud at night

Was I supposed to type something here?
The '09 Utah game stands out for a number of reasons: Gameday, national audience, actual Title implications, etc. But the biggest thing to me was that it was in many ways the Last Hurrah of old Amon Carter Stadium, and a suitable exorcism of a great many demons piled up in decades before. The Old Ghosts were there for one last night, and it was a doozy.

And, Rose Bowl. Duh...

Yea, which is why I just mentioned it as an honorable mention. That game was big because we were still in the MWC, and we were not getting the respect we deserved from the B12 oriented media. GP expresses it here:

Other games that had less than 35k there but had great crowds:
2001 beat 10-2 Louisville with Patterson blitzing every play.
2003 Cincinnati with everyone throwing fiesta chips

If we're talking ones that we attended?

Football:
  1. 2011 Rose Bowl - duh
  2. 2010 at #5 Utah - absolute arse beating, at the end of the 3rd (Frogs up 37-0), they tried to get a U-T-A-H chant going around the stadium. Before they got to the H, our whole section started a unison TCU chant that drowned out the rest of their home crowd and our team proceeded to go nuts on the sideline. It was glorious.
  3. Tie between 2009 Utah and Alamo Bowl vs. Oregon. Most electric home crowd ever vs. the greatest comeback ever (and game I lost my voice the worst at)
Baseball
  1. 2010 CWS Game 9 vs. FSU - Curry's home run is a top 3 sports moment of all time for me
  2. 2014 Fort Worth Regional vs. SHSU - 22 Inning insanity that birthed the woo birds (love em or hate em, it was perfection in the moment)
  3. 2015 Super Regional Game 3 vs. Aggy - Garrett Crain going LEEEROOOOOOOY JJJJJEEEENKINS was epic
Basketball
  1. 2013 Home vs. Kansas - upset that never had any business happening. When Self was asked if it was the worst loss in Kansas history, he mentioned Naismith losing to the YMCA
Insert two more random home wins for basketball.

Rose Bowl - doing tequila shots to Riff Ram in the hotel bar afterwards surrounded by Wisconsin Fans
TCU vs OU 2005 - was a member of the band and we left at like 5am that morning to bus to Norman. Never seen a college atmosphere like that
Alamo bowl 2015 - we debated leaving at halftime, Fiancee (now wife) convinced me to stay and witness the greatness. Knew she was a keeper.

On TV
Tech 2015 - watched in the Aria sportsbook on mesohornedfrog's bachelor party (along with DKfrog). Got bought free shots by some random guy after the catch because he was so happy for us, we also rode the hot streak and put $100 on black walking out after (and hit). Coincidentally don't remember the rest of the night.
Boise 2011 - also watched at the Aria sportsbook with mesohornedfrog (theres a theme)
Clemson 2009 - woke up at 3am to watch gamecast overseas.

TO make the Tech game even better, it was actually 70 that Tech scored against TCU the previous game....From 70 to 3...sublime....And Leach railed against his team for thinking of their "fat girlfriends" in the stands instead of the game....LOL

A couple of other favorites that I loved:

Louisville crossbar field goal game and the 2000 Northwestern game where LT kept breaking long runs that got called back. I think he ended up with around 270 yards but could have been close to 400 if not for the call backs.

Football
  1. Rose Bowl - I was more euphoric after that game than after any game in my life. I was walking on air and almost completely sober (I wasn't gonna pay $10.00 for a cup of beer.)
  2. 69 Purdue game...glad someone reminded me of this. Great QB battle between TCU's newcomer Steve Judy and Purdue's All American Mike Phipps. Unfortunately a TCU loss 42-35. Program was looking up, luckily we could not foresee the 70's:(.
  3. 1990 Oky State in Ft. Worth. Leon Clay led a comeback win that was exciting enough for Jim Reeves to write in his column "go ahead and tear up my press card"...he was a TCU fan for that game. Things were looking great that season until Clay broke his thumb against Baylor.
Bonus: worst game experience, by far (and I have been to Longhorn blowouts, aggy wins where the corps guys would strut around campus like they owned it, Arky wins with drunk redneck Arky fans barfing all over ACS) was the 1994 Weedeater bowl, cold, rainy, bad / boring football and a loss.

Basketball
  1. 1998 Tulsa at DMC. Exciting overtime game on our WAC championship season.
  2. 1968 at Baylor. Won the game in that dark barn of Baylor's and the SWC championship to boot. Just an accident I was there. My dad was visiting a friend in Waco and dropped me off for the game. Our zone press in the second half won that game.
  3. 1998 at SMU. Great game in ancient Moody. Billy came over to the TCU section after the game and thanked (applauded) the TCU fans!

I remember in the telecast they caught Francione yelling at an official about how may TD's they had called back (2 or 3) with him showing that many fingers (2 or 3, although they deserved one).

Where's 2004 little lowly TCU beating OU who played in the National Championship game the year before?

We were 26.5 dogs and none of us had a remote thought that we'd win that game. Adrianne Peterson had like 80 yards rushing. Ty Gunn played his best game before the injuries got to be too much for him.

Every game since then, I've expected us to have a chance of winning. This game, it never crossed my mind. I sat with a well-connected OU booster I caddied for all through high school. I was in a sea of red. I wanted to spend time with my friend and just enjoy an OU gameday, which happened. Winning the game made it that much better.

Please bear with an old-timer who cherishes the 3 times Frogs knocked Texas out of the national championship:
Nov 15, 1941-- TCU 14, Texas 7.
Nov 14, 1959-- TCU 14, Texas 9.
Nov 18, 1961-- TCU 6, Texas 0.
The Horns are my favorite team to dislike, and all 3 were played in Austin--- sweet, sweet memories.
