Jaylen Fisher Decision

GCU regained its non-profit status last summer.

Had a child who considered going there. It's nearly as affordable as any state school--and hasn't raised tuition since 2009. Of course, the way they make that work is that adjuncts teach a very high proportion of classes.

They schedule campus-visit days around home basketball games and make hoops a central part of the prospective-student experience. Majerle has built a competitive program even while being ineligible for NCAA play until two seasons ago. They've pushed NMSU but haven't gotten over that hump. Probably a good fit for Fisher and not far from home.

Isn't he from Memphis?

Just a hop, skip and a 1400 mile jump!

Not paying $16.5K to be taught by adjuncts.

They truly are turning a corner. I don't know what the ratio of FT vs adjunct is but it's no longer the diploma mill it once was. They did it to build up revenue, endowment and alumni and it's afforded them the opportunity to build a beautiful campus AND they have had a tuition freeze for 11 years. We should be the last to cast stones for that very reason alone. It's on it's way to becoming a reputable institution.
